Our short courses have been designed to provide a flexible way to access training for staff who wish to upgrade their skills, refresh their knowledge, or to expand their technical skills into new areas of interest.

PROJECT SPECIFICATION BUDGET

Each short course is delivered online and is made up of between 2 to 8 sessions. Each session is 45 minutes in length, with a focus on learning new skills and putting these into practice with support. On completion participants will receive a certificate and can log their achievement as CPD with the Learning Engine. Microsoft Innovative Educator By the end of this course you will be able to: - Become a Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE). - Navigate through the fundamentals of Microsoft tools in the classroom - Join a professional learning network of educators who come together to learn, share, and grow. Requirements: - Join the Microsoft Educator Center - Complete 2 hours of training Participants achieve MIE status on completion of the course. 2-week course Course starts: Thursday 3rd February @ 1pm Course ends: Thursday 10th February 2022

Project Based Learning & T Skills By the end of this course you will be able to: - Embed PBL and T skills into the curriculum incorporating collaborative work and links with industry. - Create a PBL assessment and assess T skills through naturally occurring evidence. - Create interdisciplinary PBL assessments and track T skills and projects through the Staff Portal. Session 1: Introduction to SERC's PBL model and T skills, linking with industry and collaborative working. Session 2: Assessing PBL and T skills, identifying opportunities for formative and summative assessment. Session 3: Creating interdisciplinary assessments, T skills tracking and navigating the Staff Portal. 3-week course Course starts: Friday 4th March @ 2pm Course ends: Friday 18th March 2022

OneNote for Productivity By the end of this course you will be able to: - Create and structure a notebook. - Use notebook on a range of devices. - Add content and share notebook with others. Session 1: Getting familiar with Notebook – user interface and practical uses, creating and structuring your notebook. Session 2: Versioning, moving between Notebooks, using Notebook on different devices. Session 3: Adding content: notes, meeting details, digital inking, external sources. Session 4: Sharing with others: permissions, passwords, printing, manage and reconcile page conflicts, and customise tagging. 4-week course Course starts: Wednesday 23rd February @ 3pm Course ends: Wednesday 23rd March 2022

Class Notebook for e-portfolio By the end of this course you will be able to: - Format & manage pages - Use audio and formatting - Draw, sketch and solve maths Session 1: Advanced formatting and using template pages. Session 2: Audio and video formatting within OneNote. Session 3: Creating rich, engaging pages, embedding external sources, draw, sketch, and solve maths using OneNote. Session 4: Manage and reconcile page conflicts, use and customise tagging. 4-week course Course starts: Friday 25th February @ 1pm Course ends: Friday 18th March 2022

Fluency with Office 365 By the end of this course you will be able to: - Navigate Office 365 Apps - File share and use across multiple devices - Use productivity tools - Identify team working solutions with Office 365 Session 1: Getting started with Office 365. Session 2: File sharing and sharing with OneDrive and SharePoint common functions, mapping OneDrive Permissions, sharing and collaborating. Using OneDrive across multiple devices, syncing issues. Session 3: Productivity tools: To do, Planner, Delve, Forms; Microsoft Teams. Session 4: : Office 365 productivity and teamwork solutions. MIE application. 4-week course Course starts: Thursday 3rd March @ 2pm Course ends: Thursday 31st March 2022

Working with Microsoft Forms By the end of this course you will be able to: - Create your MS form, adding question type, changing, or adding own theme. - Share your MS form with others through link, QR code etc. - Decide how responses are gathered with choice of graph. - Use MS forms to create a quiz with collated responses. - Identify opportunities to use Forms for formative or summative assessment. Session 1: Creating forms, question types, branching and sections, settings. Session 2: Sharing and collaborating. Collecting and analysing responses. How to create a Microsoft Form with live responses in Excel. Session 3: Forms for assessment and quizzes 2-week course (with optional 3rd week for teaching staff) Course starts: Monday 7th February @ 3pm Course ends: Monday 28th February 2022

Coaching Skills for Everyone By the end of this course you will be able to: - Understand the difference between coaching and mentoring. - Explore the GROW model for coaching. - Practice the GROW model technique with coaching triads. Session 1: Defining coaching and mentoring and exploring the differences. Session 2: Examining the GROW model and its application in coaching. Accessibility in Microsoft By the end of this course you will be able to: - Navigate the fundamental principles of accessibility. - Utilise assistive technologies to make resources and hardware more accessible. Session 1: Microsoft accessibility tools and features for users on every PC/Mac. Power Automate By the end of this course you will be able to: - Create and use existing flows template to automate workflow. - Create advanced flows with conditions/function/ update files. - Create a flow that is triggered automatically. Session 1: Introducing PowerAutomate, types of flow, using template flows & running a flow. Session 2: Customising a Workflow from a template. Digital Design By the end of this course you will be able to: - Navigate graphic design platform Canva. - Create visual content using Canva. - Navigate interactive Genially platform. Session 1: Introduction to Canva – creating digital assets. Session 2: Creating visual content including posters, presentations and social media content. Session 3: Introduction to Genially. Session 4: Use the all-in-one online tool to create stunning presentations, interactive images, infographics, gamification with Genially. 4-week course Course starts: Friday 1st April @ 1pm Course ends: Friday 6th May 2022

Getting to grips with HE for staff By the end of this course you will be able to: - Create learning outcomes to develop higher level learning skills. - Research effectively and use digital tools for referencing. Session 1: Teaching HE in FE: a differentiated approach to lesson planning, learning outcomes and development of T skills. Meeting minutes and note-taking By the end of this course you will be able to: - Plan and take meaningful meeting minutes. - Create succinct minutes noting outcomes. Session 1: Effective planning, preparation and production of minutes using OneNote. Understand the range of purposes of minutes.
