Complaint and Grievance Procedures SCO STUDENT GRIEVANCES, APPEALS, AND DUE PROCESS

When a student, faculty or staff member has a potential complaint against a student, they are to contact the Vice President for Student Services as soon as possible. The Vice President for Student Services can discuss confidentially any issue related to a prospective complaint. The complete policy and procedure documents for Due Process Policy for Student Grievances and Appeals can be found in the Student Services section on SCO’s IRIS. When a student has a potential complaint against a faculty or staff member, such student should also contact the Vice President for Student Services to discuss confidentially and review possible options according to college policies. Any student complaint related to course instruction and/or grades should first be directed to the instructor of record. If the complaint were not satisfactorily addressed, the student should then contact the Academic Affairs Office. SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS COMMISSION ON COLLEGES (SACSCOC)

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is to be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support the institution’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.
