Woman dies while crossing road in Ingleside A 70-year-old Ingleside woman is dead after being struck by a car while crossing traffic Saturday. According to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the preliminary investigation shows Bonnie C. Tarkowski was walking eastbound on the north shoulder of Rollins Road. Tarkowski crossed the road, walking toward the south shoulder of the roadway, when she was struck by an eastbound 2006 GMC Yukon, driven by a 43-year-old Fox Lake woman at about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. Tarkowski was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the GMC was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.

Lyngaas’ shop, which he co-owns with Nancy Guenther, was one of 18 local businesses participating in this year’s walk. Though Oktoberfest officially ended on Oct 4, the spirit of gemütlichkeit (cordiality) continued as each of the about 400 participants had the opportunity to sample several different brews, along with a number of barbecue treats, at each of the stops. The annual event was sponsored by the Antioch Chamber of Commerce. At left: Visitors to one of the stops on the Beer and BBQ Walk mingle and enjoy the offerings.
