Roadside checks Boo Bash net 85 citations Antioch area checkpoint included 19 citations
Frightfully good time at the
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies issued 85 citations during three separate roadside sobriety check operations in September. Those included: • Sept. 5, Grass Lake Road at Route 59 in unincorporated Antioch: 19 total citations/arrests. • Sept. 19, Route 21 south of Aptakisic Road in unincorporated Lincolnshire: 22 total citations/arrests. • Sept. 27, Lewis Ave. at Beach Rd. in Beach Park: 44 total citations/arrests. According to the Sheriff’s Office, an average of one alcohol-related traffic death occurs every 45 minutes in the United States. Alcohol and drug impairment are significant factors in over 40

The Antioch Fine Arts Foundation is hosting its main fundraising event on Oct. 10, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a silent art auction, wine tasting, food, music, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and other raffle prizes. Many local businesses have donated prizes for the event. The public is invited to meet

Deputies working the operations also look for drivers traveling in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s licenses and to ensure all Illinois Vehicle Code laws are being followed. The roadside checks are funded through a grant from the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Administration. The grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
