Uline has ambitious plans in area This month marks five years since Uline, a leading provider of shipping supplies, moved over 750 employees to its new corporate headquarters in Pleasant Prairie from Illinois. The company now has plans in 2017 to move its Waukegan, Ill., branch to a new facility in Kenosha. This branch will consist of 880,000 square feet of warehouse and office space, and will employ about 500 people in distribution, customer service and administration, according to a company press release. Since 2010, the following additional activity has taken place, or has been announced: • In 2013, Uline relocated its Minneapolis branch operations and about 200 employees into a new facility in Hudson. • In 2014, Uline opened a downtown Milwaukee office. • This year, construction started on three buildings at the Pleasant Prairie corporate campus: - A second 1.1 million square foot warehouse will open in 2016 and add about 300 employees. - A new 300-person conference center that will be completed in 2016. - A second 300,000 square foot corporate office building scheduled to open in 2017 will be the future home for 800 additional employees in areas like merchandising, creative design and marketing. Like its predecessor this new building will have a similar look and amenities ranging from a corporate cafe to an onsite gym. According to company officials, when Uline moved across the Wisconsin border, from Illinois, a heightened focus was placed on recruiting employees from Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine and surrounding areas. “We knew we had to be more overt in our Wisconsin recruiting efforts, to the extent that we have opened an HR office in downtown Milwaukee. This office makes it easy for Milwaukee area job seekers to begin the interview process with Uline,” said Liz Uihlein, company president.
