Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

Combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well (batter will be stiff). Spread into a greased 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until top is lightly browned and springs back when touched. Cool 30 minutes. Meanwhile combine brown sugar and butter. Cook over medium heat until butter is melted. Gradually add cream. Bring to a slow boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Removed from heat, serve on cake.

3/4 cup shortening 1 cup sugar, divided 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 1-3/4 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped fruit flavored or spiced gumdrops 2 egg whites
In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and 3/4 cup sugar. Beat in almond extract. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt, gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in gumdrops. In a small bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining sugar beating until beating until stiff peaks form. Fold into dough. Drop by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 3-1/2 dozen.

Mint Sandwich Cookies
1 can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract 3 to 5 drops green food coloring
72 butter flavored crackers 1 pound dark chocolate candy coating, coarsely chopped
In a bowl, combine the frosting, extract and food coloring. Spread over half of the crackers, top with remaining crackers. Place candy coating in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth. Dip the cookies in coating. Place on waxed paper until chocolate is completely set. Store in an air-tight container at room temperature.

1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 cup broken walnuts or pecans 1 Tablespoon brandy or whiskey
14 ounces round Brie cheese Apple slices brushed with lemon juice
In small bowl stir together brown sugar, nuts and brandy. Cover and chill for up to 1 week. To serve: Place cheese on large round oven proof plate of 9-inch pie plate. Bake at 500 degrees for 4 to 5 minutes or until cheese is slightly softened, sprinkle sugar/nut mixture over top and bake 2 to 3 minutes or until sugar is melted and cheese is heated through, but not melted. Can arrange apple slices around cheese or serve with crackers. Microwave directions: Put sugar/nut mixture on top of cheese. Microwave 50% power for about 2 minutes.

Roll each frozen roll in butter, then in cinnamonsugar; place coated rolls in greased 12-cup fluted cake pan. Let stand, loosely cover until rolls thaw and rise to double in size. 3 to 4 hours. Bake at 350 degrees until golden, 25-30 minutes. Place on wire rack to cool. Serve warm with preserves and honey.

1 jar (6 ounces) maraschino cherries without stems, drained and halved Additional sugar
In a bowl, cream butter and sugar then gradually add flour. Shape a Tablespoon of dough around each cherry, forming a ball. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes. Roll warm cookie in confectioners sugar. Cool on wire racks.
