The Long Lake Protection District has applied for a permit from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to treat up to 109 acres on Long Lake with aquatic herbicides to control Eurasian Water Milfoil, Curly-Leaf Pondweed and Starry Stonewort. The proposed treatment will occur between April 15th, 2016 and October 15th, 2016. The application will target specific nuisance plants in the treatment area. The Long Lake Protection District will conduct a public informational meeting on the proposed treatment if five or more individuals, organizations, special units of government, or local units of government request one. The meeting will give citizens a chance to learn more about the proposed treatment based on information available at that time. Any request for a public meeting on this proposed treatment must be made within five days after this notice is published. The request must specify the topics to be discussed at the meeting, including problems and alternatives, and must be sent in writing to the LLPD, 27440 Long Lake Road, Wind Lake, WI 53185.
