Letter From the President As I look to the year ahead as the new president of the Chamber, I see opportunities for this community that are both strategic and tactical… and more than a little exciting. Susie Schuyler, my hat is off to you for the service you gave to this growing organization and for laying the foundation upon which we’ll build in 2015. I’ve participated in a board member capacity for the last five years and witnessed one great legacy of your service: The interaction between the Village, Town and Absolutely Waterford. When I think of strategic initiatives, this holds the most promise for the current year, and the decades ahead, as it positions us for continued business growth when Waterford can speak with one, unified voice. We have a solid calendar of events this year, not the least of which is the Hot Air Balloon Festival in July. Now in its fifth year, this event is positioned to bolster Waterford as more than a spot on the tourism map. It’s making us a destination-of-choice in Southeastern Wisconsin. Long before we get to the summer event, I’m really looking forward to the 21st Annual W.A.C.C. Home & Commerce Show, March 7th, 9am to 4pm at Waterford Union High School. Approximately 3,000 people are expected to visit our town, eat where we eat, shop where we shop, and share our hometown spirit. What I value most in the organization and in this community are the dozens of volunteers, without whom, no Waterford event would be possible. In the decade-plus I have been participating as a member of the Chamber, I’m always impressed by the time and talent so generously given on behalf of the community to enhance every event. The Bohners Lake Sanitary District (BLSD) intends to apply for a permit from the Wisconsin DNR to treat up to 50 acres on Bohners Lake with aquatic pesticides to control aquatic nuisances. The treatment would take place between April 1 and Sept 15, 2015.
