Have you heard?!? No “pay to play”! Here at Southern Soil, we don’t engage in the “pay to play” method of choosing content. In other words, we will NEVER require you to pay a fee or purchase advertising in order to be featured in this magazine. 2

Our content decisions are driven by our shared values of sustainably produced foods: ethically and humanely raised animals, responsible use of natural resources and conscientious choices for the health of the animals, the planet and the humans too. We strive to provide content that will engage, entertain and educate our readers. We are not here to promote only those who can afford advertising, we’re here to support a community and regional movement - a growing food movement in Southeast Georgia. So, as we like to say, “pull up a chair and join the conversation!” We appreciate our advertisers and rely on that revenue to keep this conversation going. And we certainly invite you to be a part of our advertising family and help us continue to share great stories of local people doing their part to improve our local food system. But we will never deny you a seat at this table for choosing not to advertise!

Welcome to the Southern Soil: a growing food movement Advertiser’s Edition! This Media Kit Magazine was created to offer you, our potential advertisers, the opportunity to see what Southern Soil is all about and to demonstrate that we are committed to producing a quality, appealing and meaningful product for our readers and your customers. As a startup, we recognize that there are risks associated with our unknown and yet untapped potential to reach our targeted market. With that risk, we are offering reward in terms of affordable ad rates and discounted commitment packages. Our target audience is all those who are interested in putting quality food on their tables, support the concept of locally sourced meats and produce, and are committed to sustainable practices in agriculture and food production. We hope to reach everyone from producers, farmers, gardeners, hunters, restaurateurs, chefs, market organizers, businesses and consumers who share these values. We want to set the table for all of us to come together and talk about local, sustainable food production and what that does and can look like here in Southeast Georgia. We invite you, as advertisers, to pull up a chair and join the conversation. Help give voice to this budding food movement as it grows and takes shape in Southeast Georgia’s red clay and sugar sand, its marshlands and coastal areas, its rural communities and growing cities. It’s a voice like no other and it deserves a place in the national conversation about our food systems. Southern Soil is committed to providing a platform for discussing local food here at home, but we will need your help to make that happen. We hope to provide a service that helps to bring together consumers and producers so the local food system can continue to grow.
