Faaiza Omar recently revealed an exciting new jewellery collaboration with Charles Greig Jewellers. The collection, which features the camellia as its signature flower motif, highlights a Charles Greig favourite — the emerald. Unusual fancy cut diamonds enhance the gorgeous gemstone for a timeless and sophisticated aesthetic.

Faaiza Omar is best known for her stunning confectionary creations, and this collection is her first o cial foray into the world of jewellery design. She presented a design concept to Christopher Greig of Charles Greig Jewellers — Faaiza saw a gap in the market for exclusive, stand-out pieces — and together with Svetla Stevens, who has headed up the Charles Greig workshop operation of master goldsmiths and setters for well over 20 years, she turned her ideas into reality.

Faaiza carefully selected gems and emeralds for each piece and worked with rose and yellow gold as base metals. The green shade of the emeralds represents new beginnings and features across the collection. The collection features 40 pieces and includes earrings, a dedicated ear cu range, necklaces, bracelets, pendants and rings. Faaiza’s personal favourite is an emerald-and-diamond ear cu , which combines trillion-cut diamonds and cushion-cut emeralds to resemble a glittering, leafy vine climbing up the ear.

THE INSPIRATION

Much of Faaiza’s work is inspired by nature — from beautiful blooms to the tiniest bug. Her love of jewellery began many years ago, and she has been designing unique pieces for herself, her friends and her family for two decades. “The fun began about 22 years ago once I was married,” says Faaiza. “My mother-in-law adored diamonds and fine jewellery, which sparked my creativity and love for the category.” When it comes to her personal style, Faaiza describes herself as edgy but classic. “I love experimenting with trends, but classic and timeless is my signature,” she says.
