to the South Kesteven Summer activities brochure for 2016. It has been put together by SKDC’s Leisure and Amenities Team and provides information on a range of activities for young people during the summer holidays in and around the district. There are lots of activities on offer, many at reduced prices. We hope there is something for everyone! For more details and to book see the information below each activity. STORM IN A TEACUP HORSE + BAMBOO A magical puppet show from the leading puppet theatre company Horse + Bamboo that will entertain young children and their grown-ups too. It’s not always easy making friends, especially when you live in a lighthouse surrounded by dangerous rocks,

towering waves and trouble making seagulls. An exciting opportunity for a tea party with a friend arises when the supply boat comes, but the lighthouse keeper’s nervousness turns what could have been a delight into a disaster. THEATRE IN A WEEK WITH BAILEY AND BURNS Join Bailey and Burns Theatre to explore acting, dance and movement through fun and dynamic creative workshops. This week-long opportunity for 8 – 16 year olds will include drama and dance sessions aimed at developing performance skills, leading towards a short performance for family and friends at the end of the week. Through games and improvisation, participants will learn to express themselves and enhance their imagination, coordination and confidence. Participants who play an instrument and would be interested in developing a little original music please let us know and bring it along on the first day! ROAMING ROBOTS WORKSHOP If you like robotics or making things, or if you want to have some fun racing your own custom-made robots in our special arena, come along and join a team! John Findlay (from TV’s Robot Wars) shows you how to make your own small fighting robot out of craft materials and electronics. Definitely not one to miss! Come along to the Arts Centre Ballroom, have fun making a cardboard box car and then watch the film ‘Cars’. ‘Cars’ is the saga of Lightning McQueen, a hotshot stock-car. En route to a big race, the cocky McQueen gets waylaid in Radiator Springs, where he finds the true meaning of friendship and family.

Then arrange with Tooty when you’d like to pick-up your fired pottery for display at home. Purchase your ticket and drop-in anytime throughout the session and paint for as long as you like. NITS is made up of dance, singing and drama workshops which lead to performance. They are suitable for beginners and for experienced performers.

MARY POPPINS SUMMER CAMP A great opportunity for young performers to work towards a mini production in five days. The workshop will include classes in acting, singing and dancing. A performance will be held on the afternoon of the final day. This performance is free to parents and friends. ONE TOUCH FOOTBALL SOCCER SCHOOL FOOTBALL FUN AND DEVELOPMENT DAYS One Touch Football is fortunate to have a link with Premier League winners Leicester City to progress players into the next stage of football. This scheme allows One Touch to develop players and also produce scouting opportunities. Football fun days with One Touch are purely fun based. They include skills sessions, a variety of games, knock out competitions and our very own
This will be a one off day taken by instructor Gemma who has featured on Britain’s Got Talent. Children will take part in numerous activities as well as learning a choreographed routine to perform to parents at the end of the day. Packed lunch and plenty of drink needed.

GRAVITY FIELDS FESTIVAL MINISTRY OF SCIENCE We believe there’s a Scientist, Engineer or Inventor in all of you… Ministry of Science Live is not your ordinary science show – it comes with a bang. It comes with a whoosh. But most of all is comes with a hovercraft built on stage…. Oh, and a Human Cannon too! This new production takes an anarchic approach to science communication whilst looking at the inventors and engineers who have shaped and inspired the modern world that we live in. From liquid nitrogen frozen flowers to hydrogen bottle rockets, from Buzz Aldrin to Virgin Galactic. From a cat food tin to the Hovercraft. From the discovery of methane to the invention of the battery. Join the super talented presenters and the voiceover of X Factor ’s Peter Dickson as they take you on a journey using brilliantly designed demonstrations with a few loud bangs to lead the way.
