It’s hard to believe 7 years have gone by since the founding of “Racetrack Road Business Association” This year we are combining the Southpointe Tradeshow with the RRBA group to bring you the largest (and only continuous) Business to business tradeshow in the area.

This 17,000 sq. ft. venue at the Southpointe Printscape Arena (Iceoplex) on March 1, will be exciting with live entertainment, prizes and most importantly, a great opportunity to meet over 100 business leaders, government officials and community health/wellness organizations. Included are the Cecil Fire Department, Southbridge Ambulance service and many more support groups.

Highlight

Cameron Strawn; the energetic and hardworking manager of Toscana in Southpointe and Buford's Kitchen on Racetrack Road.

Cameron Strawn is no stranger to the Racetrack Road and Southpointe Area. Cameron graduated in 2007 from Canon-Macmillan High School. In high school, he started working part time at local restaurants, waiting on tables and eventually bar tending. He recalls, “I just fell in love with the environment of the service industry.” He studied business management at Waynesburg University. Cameron was their from the start at the now popular Toscana Brick Oven located on Main Street in Southpointe Town Center. This is one of four restaurants that separates its self as a top shelf but affordable Italian cuisine. Cameron’s selection of entrees and appetizers makes it unique.

The wood fired oven makes the pizza a great choice for a lighter menu. The desserts are excellent and very traditional. Cameron explains, “We provide our community with local food sources to obtain the finest and freshest meats, fish, cheeses and vegetables available. The emphasis on cooking our food in-house and from scratch is what defines and distinguishes Toscana Brick Oven.

Cameron added, “Some of our regulars come in three and four times during the week!” About 75% of our staff at Toscana, both front house and back of house, have been here from the beginning, including myself. At Toscana, we are one big happy family. It is difficult to go a day without good laugh.” Longevity in the restaurant business is rare.

One of Cameron’s most recent assignments is manager of Buford’s Kitchen at the entrance of the Meadows Racetrack side mall. This is southern cooking but features breakfast all day making it the go to for late risers. Both Burfurd’s Kitchen and Toscana are owned by the MTM group who also owns and operates Andora Restaurant in Sewickley and Fox Chapel.

For relaxation he enjoys golfing. He is seen in other restaurants sharing ideas and socializing in the close knit community. He states, “When I’m not working, I’m usually enjoying a happy hour at one of the four corners of Southpoitne Town Center!”
