Outlaw Flat Track Races

By Greg Coulter

The weather was perfect for a day at the grounds of the Erie Ramblers Motorcycle Club on Saturday, August 13.

Eleven-year-old Nolan Jones of Wheatley blasts through turn #4 on his 85 cc bike. The second-year flat track racer has been riding dirt bikes since age three and continues to improve. He ran a good clean race and placed second in his group.

Entertaining practice rounds, qualifying heats and main races were held throughout the afternoon on the flat track.

Racers ranged from 65cc bikes and up, novice riders to pro.

The event was a tuneup for the club’s hosting of the Flat Track Nationals on September 17. An amazing number of volunteers work tirelessly in some dusty conditions to put on an event such as this.

The club is also holding a raffle to be drawn on August 27 with two winners receiving a 2022 dirt bike. Proceeds from this draw go to support the Wheatley Legion and the Rambler’s Club.
