Jones appointed to council seat

LEAMINGTON — Trevor Jones, who was unsuccessful in the last municipal election , has been appointed to Leamington Council, filling the vacant chair left by the sudden passing of John Jacobs.

Jones, who had 2582 votes, tabbed the highest number of votes of the people who were not elected in the 2018 election.

Council decided last month to offer the position to Jones.

He recently accepted and was sworn in at town hall on Wednesday, December 9.

“I am pleased to have a long-standing resident like Trevor, who is eager and involved in the community, join Council,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “We look forward to working with Trevor in the future and wish him every success in his new role.”

Jacobs was about half-way through the current term when he passed suddenly on November 9.
