Who We Are Southridge Key Club consists of dedicated members willing to create a change in the community. We, the officers, hope that we can inspire others to stand up for a cause. We do not “hold hands around the campfire and have spirit stick parties”, although that happened once, we fight to better the world around us. Key Club is a community service group that always backs each other up. Our PNW District Governor, Giovanni McKenzie, set up Project: Educate and over 330 Key Clubs have helped to raise funds for Jamaican education. Together, we do make a difference. Just know that Key Club does go beyond a high school level; members have continued to make a difference in Circle K International and Kiwanis. Key Club isn’t for the light-hearted scraping by for the 60 service learning hours.

Project Educate

Upcoming Events December 1 – Key Club Dues Due (regular) December 7 – Mommy Little Man Dance Dinner December 8 – Oregon Food Bank December 15 – Oregon Food Bank December 21 – January 6 – Winter Break!

This year’s district project is Project Educate. The goal is to improve the quality of education in Jamaica, one school at a time. This is the first of its kind – a joint project between the Pacific Northwest District and the Jamaica District. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to help aid three different schools in Jamaica. It will provide library equipment, classroom supplies, and tuition of two students for the 2013-2014 school year, and rebuilding funds for the library at Wakefield Primary School. Our division decided to have a Miracle Dollar to raise at least $500 among the 10 schools. We also have district shirts and wristbands; orders are still being taken.

Accomplishments At the Nov. 19 meeting, we were able to raise over $50 for Project: Educate during our Miracle Dollar! We kept it a secret to surpise Jiwon, but we will have a pie ready for the next meeting, which will probably be in December! Although we didn’t have enough members show up for Loaves & Fishes and Oregon Food Bank, there are a lot of families grateful for our help to feed them this Thanksgiving. We still have more events coming up so remember to sign up!

Many people have not returned their UNICEF boxes! It is very important that you get it to us ASAP so we can send the money to the Eliminate Project! We have recently eliminated China, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Senegal, Timor Leste, and Tanzania.

If you missed the November 19 deadline for membership forms, you have only this week to get it in! Fill out the form completely and remember to bring $15.
