EDITOR NOTE Thanks for choosing to read the first issue of the Maldives Only Travel Guide, a curated collection of Tried, Tested and Reviewed Resorts in the Maldives by Spa it Girl. Firstly I am so grateful to share the love of visiting the Maldives with you and if your Dream has always been to visit the Maldives I am cheering you on all the way and I can wait for you to live your Dream of Visiting the Maldives too. I am also so grateful that I was able to visit the Maldives at the start of the year in January and than again at the start of March however in Mid March I had to return back home to Australia as the Australian Government called for all Australia's overseas to return home due to the Global Pandemic and COVID19. From mid March onwards we were asked to stay home, to only go out for essential things and it was the first time that I have ever seen countries right around the world close their borders and countries coming to a grinding out. Sadly our Travel and Tourism came to a stop with so many travel bans and restrictions in place and right across the world businesses had to either temporarily close their business or some sadly lost their businesses and so many people found themselves without a job and going on their dream holiday wasn't in some instances even possible due to international travel being stopped. My heart goes out to anyone who has sadly lost a loved one during COVID19 or who is facing losing a loved one. This year right around the world we have all suffered some kind of loss, pain, suffering should that be from losing our jobs, livelihoods, freedom to travel, our usual day to day routine and the list goes on.
Even though it's been tough if we have our health and we didn't get COVID19 we have so much to be grateful for. It's been reported that in the 47 years of Tourism in the Maldives they have never had to close their boarders and in my 25+ years of travelling I have never seen even our own Australian Borders closed. But with all of the devastation we have also seen the most incredible sense of Global Community with everyone sharing the message right across social media we are all in this together, stay at home, stop the spread, thinking of others and I really felt that social media was a wonderful way to stay connected, inspired, positive and as a global community we were all able to play our part in lifting each other up. The love, kindness, empathy and concern for one another was truly felt. SPAITGIRL/ 2020

EDITOR NOTE COVID19 has been an emotional roller coaster and it has thrown so many challenges at us it has caused a lot of pain, suffering, losses, hardships and adversity but I think now we are all hoping and dreaming of better days ahead for all of us right around the world. On the 15th of July 2020 the Maldives will be re-opening their boarders and welcoming visitors again. If you live in a country that is allowing you to travel international when it comes to booking your dream holiday think MALDIVES ONLY. I want to also say a personal thank you as you for making a real difference and for sharing your positivity during a time when it was truly needed. When we were all in the middle of the Global Pandemic and Crisis things got really challenging and tough but it was incredible to see everyone still sharing and posting what they loved and together we played a role in helping others to escape when they too were in lock down and stuck at home. They offer an over water spa which has the most incredible ocean views and when you are in the spa all you can hear is the soothing sounds of the ocean it's so peaceful, calming nuturing such a re-energising gift. During my stay they also had visiting Wellness practitioner @shosil.mahato at their spa and I was able to book in and experience a Himalayan Singing Bowls therapy which helped to unblock my trapped emotions and to balance out my chakras and after my treatment I felt so lighter and I let go to emotions and thoughts I didn't even realised was stored in my body from 20 years ago.

A very special thanks to all of the staff who truly made the experience. I arrived as a guest and I left as a friend and part of their incredible family. I know since COVID19 we have had so many sleepless nights so if you really struggle with getting a good nights sleep than I totally recommend staying at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort as I had the best nights sleep every nigh and I still can't stop raving on about it, Sleep is so important for our health and wellness and when you combine the natural Maldivian Resort Island Setting, with the fresh healthy food, spa treatments, their fitness centre, water activities and than you can sleep well each night it's truly one of a kind.
