FALL 2020 RESIDENCE LIFE

SINGLE OCCUPANCY POLICY

For the fall 2020 semester, all residential students at Russell Sage College will be housed in single occupancy rooms. We are making this decision to reduce density in our residence halls, which will: • Allow for maintaining social distancing guidelines • Allow for staff to keep common areas cleaned beyond the standards of the CDC • Allow us to do our collective part to minimize the spread of COVID-19

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: I was hoping to live with

someone I already know. Will that be possible? A: When you fill out your housing

preference form, let us know who you want to live with and we will do our best to get you as close as possible. You will also have an opportunity to live with them as soon as we return to double occupancy.

Q: Will I be charged a higher rate for a single room? A: No, all students who live in Russell

Sage College owned residence halls will pay the double rate. For students living in Troy, you will pay $2,000 less as part of a room grant you will receive.

Q: I was looking forward to

living with someone as a way to be more involved in college life. What can I do now? A: Personal growth and development continue to be priorities of our residential program. We are mindful that this new setup will cause changes

to our programs and services, and want to assure you that we have designed a student experience that will encourage involvement, connections, community and relationship-building.

Q: What if I have classes on

both campuses? Which campus should I live on? A: Russell Sage College offers shuttle services from one campus to another every half hour. You can also drive back and forth in your own vehicle should you choose to bring one (the drive is only 20 minutes!). You should feel comfortable living on either campus if your classes are offered in both Albany and Troy.

Q: Who should I contact if I

have questions?

A: Shylah Addante, Director of Residence Life, will be your main point of contact. Her email address is addans@sage.edu and her phone number is (518) 244-2008. Shylah will also be the person responsible for sending your housing preference form once you deposit.
