MS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
PHD IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
Design and improve infrastructure through modern technology with a focus on smart infrastructure and materials. Students create their own path with a choice of six concentrations: construction management; structural engineering; geotechnical engineering; environmental engineering and water resources; urban systems; and highway and transportation engineering.
Conduct original investigations demonstrating creativity and scholarship. Candidates focus on one of six civil engineering subdisciplines: structural materials; geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering; environmental and water resources; construction management; transportation engineering; and urban infrastructure systems engineering and management.
MS IN CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT Effectively plan, manage, and execute construction operations, and lead construction organizations. Learn and apply advanced organizational, technological, and financial practices. Graduates are in high demand in government and the private sector, working as owners, representatives, engineers, construction managers, and contractors.
MS IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING Focus on sustainable use of natural resources through design and operation of engineered systems using an in-depth understanding of environmental chemistry, microbiology, and hydrology, as well as pollution prevention and treatment. Graduates work in both private and public sectors in fields such as environmental assessment, remediation design, and sustainable development.
MS IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE Engage in the multidisciplinary area of preserving and protecting the environment through an in-depth understanding of environmental interactions. Graduates enter fields such as environmental sustainability, urban development, and natural resource management.
MS IN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS Take an adaptive, whole-system approach to transit management, which considers the logistical transportation problems of mobility in increasingly denser cities through an integrated lens. You will learn the fundamentals of data and predictive analytics, smart cities, transportation, urban planning, public policy, and technological innovation, and leave prepared to manage multimodal transportation systems of the future.
PHD IN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS Advance the state of the art in urban transportation systems. Graduates of this program have successfully pursued careers in academia and technical leadership in government and industry around the world. They’ve led the charge on topics such as connected and autonomous vehicle operations, Mobility-as-a-Service, and the Internet-of-Things, as well as their socio-technical impacts.
PHD IN URBAN SYSTEMS Draw from the expertise of faculty across NYU schools and global campuses, offering an inclusive and globally impactful interdisciplinary research and educational program designed to address critical urban needs. This program is available to students with diverse backgrounds including engineering and environmental science, architecture and urban planning, computing and data science, economics and public policy, and social sciences and public health.
