LEARN ABOUT CYBER SECURITY IN NEW YORK CITY The Computer Science and Cyber Security Program for High School Women provides a unique opportunity for young women from the NY metropolitan area to be introduced to career opportunities in the exciting field of Computer Science and Cyber Security. Qualified students will engage in an educational program covering the fundamental concepts of Computer Science and Cyber Security, leading to participation in a nationwide CSAW High School Cyber Forensics Challenge hosted annually by the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. For more information on last year’s event, visit: csaw.isis.poly.edu. Twenty-two qualified young women from local high schools will be selected to engage in two weeks of lectures, hands-on training, and day trips in New York City. The program is designed to introduce the basic ideas and challenges of Computer Science and Cyber Security to high school students. The program will include significant hands-on components in an encouraging and supportive environment. Students will be provided access to an online-accessible Virtual Lab (VITAL) to facilitate extracurricular and self-learning activities as students learn to solve problems and to compete in the CSAW challenge. NYU Polytechnic students and staff will assist with all labs and activities. A formal letter of completion and evaluation will be provided. Students will also be given permanent access to a mentor network of the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering alumni and affiliates for career and professional resources.
