OUTCOMES Since 2007, the Educational Leadership program has graduated 194 students in cohorts in Albany and New York City. Eighty-one percent of our students graduated with their cohort. The national average completion rates for humanities doctoral program is approximately 50% graduation within ten years.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS • Official graduate-level transcripts totaling at least 60 credits of study with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher • Three letters of recommendation that address the candidate’s potential relationship to system leadership. Two letters must be from a current or former supervisor. One letter may be from a colleague. • A career goals essay supporting the choice to enter doctoral study at this time • A current resume • If selected, a personal admissions interview including an on-demand writing sample to determine readiness and capability for scholarly writing. Deadline: April 15 Start date: Fall semester
PROGRAM SUMMARY | Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) School District Leader Certification
School District Leader Certification is available through the coursework and internship experience offered through the doctoral program. The course requirements for New York State School District Leader certification will be met after successful completion of 24 credits of the Educational Leadership program, after Semester III. In order to receive this certification, candidates must take and pass the New York State School District Leader examination as well as workshops on Reporting and Identifying Child Abuse and Maltreatment, School Violence Prevention and the Dignity for All Students Act.
