A WORLDWIDE CONNECTION There’s a reason the first commercial maritime school in the nation was founded in New York Harbor. As the third-busiest port in the country and the financial capital of the world, New York/New Jersey is a global hub for the largest maritime companies, and an ideal venue for starting careers in shipping, transportation management, and many other fields. Furthermore, our proximity to Connecticut offers access to a prime location for maritime transportation-related broker activity along the Long Island Sound.

MASTER’S FAST-TRACK PROGRAM Save time and money with our five-year Fast-Track program, which allows you to transfer seamlessly into the International Transportation Management (ITM) graduate program at the beginning of your senior year, provided you have taken at least 90 credit hours and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 by the summer of your junior year. The program allows you to take up to 10 graduate credits in your senior year, which count toward both undergraduate and graduate degrees.

EXPERT FACULTY Our ITT professors are selected for their incisive understanding of their fields and extensive industry experience. Many have worked in marine operations, and some are published authors who have contributed research on topics including marine insurance and admiralty law. They bring expertise in areas such as container ship operations, intermodal logistics, economics and finance of ports and terminals, maritime security, and more.

U.S. COAST GUARD DECK LICENSE A deck license qualifies you to work onboard commercial vessels, navigating, handling cargo, maintaining the ship, and ensuring operational safety. To earn a USCG License, you must take additional courses, which include hands-on professional training aboard the Empire State VI. This program track requires you to belong to the college’s Regiment of Cadets, a disciplined lifestyle program that is not affiliated with the military.

As a student, you’ll benefit from a wide variety of credit-granting internships and unique learning opportunities, thanks to our strong connections to the maritime industry and convenient location in New York City.
