Giving to MSU Athletics is an excellent way in which you can tangibly impact the quality of education our studentathletes receive. Endowments are meaningful as they offer a dependable, perpetual source of funding. Michigan State University’s endowment accounts are pooled and invested as one Common Investment Fund. Currently, a portion of this annual income is distributed in accordance with guidelines set by the donor. The pool is invested over an infinite time horizon with the goal of maintaining the value in real terms, thus providing a steady flow of income. In this respect, an endowment is a perpetual gift.

SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENTS Keith Mumphery

Class of 2015; Football Communications Major “Coach Dantonio and his staff were one of the first teams to recruit me and give me a chance. On my campus visit I remember feeling comfortable and noticing how authentic and real the guys on the team and the staff were. Being a MSU studentathlete gives me hope for my life and my career after my football career ends.

Endowed scholarships support student-athletes by underwriting essential costs, including tuition, room and board, and books. A fully endowed scholarship allows a student-athlete to focus on success in the classroom and on the field. Endowed scholarships provide our student-athletes with the support needed to succeed in the classroom, in competition, and in the community. Scholarship Endowments help the MSU Athletics family meet the needs of our student-athletes by providing a self-sustaining scholarship. Join us as we pursue excellence so MSU can forever stand among the nations best. Donors to endowed scholarships are given the opportunity to meet the student-athlete their support is directly impacting through varying Spartan Fund events.

COACHING ENDOWMENTS Endowments for coaching positions provide well-deserved support to the men and women leading our student-athletes. In business terms, endowments are the financial reserves and growth capital required to succeed in the increasingly competitive world of major university athletics. Endowments are also the critical bridge that connects legendary names like Munn, Daugherty, Mason, Perles and Heathcote to our emerging legends and rising champions like Izzo, Dantonio and Merchant – to name just a few. We need MSU Athletics to continue to attract and retain coaching greats – and to ensure they are Spartans “for life.”
