Set a glass of pasta water on the side before draining the pasta. Start with a small amount of pesto and a few teaspoons of pasta water and mix until combined. Add more pesto if needed or pasta water for a lighter texture. Add the salmon pieces. Add some fresh basil if available to the mixture, and save some for decoration.
