S-Works
The S-Works line appeals to a certain type of rider.
Do you weigh your coffee beans with a carbon fiber scale before brewing? Do you use words like “proprietary” and “torsional stiffness” to describe your toothbrush? Do you find yourself racing co-workers up the stairs completely unbeknownst to them? If so, you’re in good company. S-Works is the pinnacle of everything we’re capable of. No expense is spared, no ideal too abstract, no design too extreme. An accountant from finance once told us we needed to rein in spending for S-Works development; he walked back upstairs with a black eye. Not that we have anything against bean-counters of course, they’re some of our best customers. More importantly, S-Works is where innovation and design are pushed to the limits. It has to be though; when our R+D team is composed of riders like Mark Cavendish, Craig “Crowie” Alexander and Christophe Sauser, the stakes are pretty high. Above all else S-Works is a standard; if it’s not the best, it gets tossed aside. Our dedication is relentless, some would even say borderline obsessive. We’re not offended though, they’re probably just the ones that we beat up the stairs.

No that B-Box doesn’t kick out tasty jams with ferocious bass. Instead, it provides real-time data acquisition that gives Specialized athletes the opportunity to test new equipment and positions in realistic riding circumstances. It’s part of the Specialized Performance Program aimed at providing our sponsored racers with every possible advantage available. No stone left unturned as the saying goes. Or in this instance, no computational aerodynamic data acquisition module left un-downloaded?

NO TERRAIN TOO DIFFICULT, NO GOAL TOO LOFT Y. The sweet isn’t as sweet without the bitter. Champagne and podiums are great, but they cast a stark shadow on what it takes to get there. The crashes, the freezing weather, the monk-like dedication to training—it’s the gnarled rubble upon which victory and glory are erected. It’s the part of the sport that you rarely see, but it’s what pushes us to keep moving forward. Because, you’ll never know how far you can push until you’ve broken down a few times along the way.

Have you met Fred? He’s an amiable enough fellow, albeit decidedly misguided when it comes to the finer nuances of “cool”. Not to worry though, we’ve got you covered. The S-Works line of products not only look great, but provide next-level performance to ensure you only have to concentrate on riding faster. Speaking of faster, the new S-Works Evade helmet offers you the aerodynamic advantage of a TT helmet without sacrificing on ventilation or comfort. Helping to keep all that fast on the tarmac are the new S-Works Turbo Tires, featuring our proprietary Gripton compound, which offer the speed and traction the Omega Pharma – Quick Step team demands. It’s a cohesive package of elite-level products that will help take you to the next level and ensure no one will ever “accidentally” call you Fred.

ROAD COLLECTION
The S-Works Venge is what happens when Specialized engineers decide they want to make a TT bike for road racing. A bike that’s equal parts aerodynamic and stiff is quite a potent weapon indeed. With the ability to transfer power efficiently, thanks to its FACT 11r carbon frame, and wind-cheating aerodynamics, aided by a set of Roval Rapide CLX 60 wheels, there’s a myriad of adjectives that could be employed to describe the Venge – the bottom line is that it just feels faster (saving 23 watts at 45kph over a standard road bike will do that). Holding the wheel in front of you, a lone solo breakaway, cresting a back road roller, they all feel faster. But that should come as no surprise seeing as how it’s the bike of choice for Mark Cavendish. He knows a thing or two about going fast.

The S-Works Tarmac SL4 starts life as a Tarmac SL4. Then it undergoes an 80’s movie-like montage transformation replete with unconventional training methods and slow motion data acquisition. The result? The stiffest, lightest bike we make. The initial push of the pedals on the Tarmac can be a little disarming at first; the responsiveness of the FACT 11r carbon frame, tapered head tube, and Roval Rapide CLX 40 wheels is something that takes a little getting used to. Once you do get used to it though, you’ll never look back. Climbs will seem to melt at your feet with each revolution of the cranks. Even better, when it’s time to descend the Tarmac enters into a whole new realm. One ride on this bike and you’ll quickly realize why it’s won the Vuelta Espana, Giro d’Italia, and the Tour de France. Multiple times.

All the best racehorses have a little bit of wild spirit in them. Ready to go, to leap forward, free and unbridled for the line with just a loosening of a reign and slight urging. The S-Works Amira shares the same untamed spirit and snappiness-off-the-line as any thoroughbred born to race. As the bike of choice for the fastest women in the pro peloton, Specialized-lululemon, the Amira’s race-optimized, FACT 11r carbon frame with Women’s Performance Geometry and layup is partnered with CLX 40 wheels and premium Dura-Ace drivetrain to give women all the horsepower and ‘giddyup!’ they need to get there first.

There’s a reason the S-Works Roubaix SL4 shares its name with one of the most brutal one day races on the calendar. Like the cobbles of northern France, the Roubaix will show you what you’re truly capable of on a bicycle. No road is too steep, no terrain too difficult, and no goal too lofty aboard the Roubaix. Endurance performance is a tricky beast to tackle but the S-Works Roubaix SL4 toes the line perfectly. With all of the responsiveness you’d find in a Tarmac thanks to its FACT 11r carbon frame, matched with the compliance needed to keep you fresh well into that fifth hour on cobbled roads from the Zertz vibration damping inserts and CG-R seatpost, there’s not much this bike can’t do. You’ll be shocked at how light and snappy the S-Works Roubaix SL4 is, but then again, when Tom Boonen asks for the best bike for the cobbles, it’s best to not question his motives.

It’s tempting to not write words here at all—to let her elegant beauty speak for itself. But without words, you might never know that her beauty is more than skin deep. As the first performanceoriented women’s bike we ever made (2006), the Ruby has always been a trailblazer. The S-Works Ruby stands as the epitome of pure class, with no detail overlooked in terms of engineering, componentry, and aesthetic. The smooth, fatigue-free ride—courtesy of the Women’s Endurance Geometry, Zertz, and CG-R seatpost—stands as a testament to this effort. Purpose-built to suit women who love to test their endurance limits in comfort and style, the Ruby is the Grace Kelly of women’s bikes: elegant, refined, and absolutely gorgeous.

The S-Works Allez has the power to leave riders a bit perplexed. It’s instantly responsive, impossibly light, descends nimbly, and deftly absorbs road chatter. Characteristics not typically found in aluminum. Thanks to its patented D’Aluisio Smartweld technology which allows for much more consistent and effective weld contact points, the Allez is lighter and more compliant than any aluminum bike we’ve ever made. It’s a testament to the singular focus our engineers have when it comes to making the best bikes possible that they were able to create something from aluminum that can rival carbon. It’s a no compromise, race-bred machine that is more than capable of tackling group rides and local races. Plus the look on people’s faces when they get beat by an aluminum bike is something you’ll never get tired of.

Cyclocross is not for the faint of heart. It’s a lung-searing, legshredding assault on the body that demands as much of your skills as it does of your bike. The S-Works Crux relishes the challenge. Born from the remnants of frozen mud, sweat, sand, and dirt and hardened in some of the harshest races Belgium has to offer, the Crux is capable of tackling any type of cyclocross terrain. Light and responsive thanks to its FACT 11r carbon construction, fully integrated hydraulic disc brakes, and CG-R seatpost which adds comfort without sacrificing performance, it’s no wonder it’s referred to as a “Tarmac for the dirt”.

Triathletes can win and lose races in the transitions. Therefore cutting time from the swim to the bike is crucial to success in the sport. Taping gels and bars to your bike frame like some type of bad Modernist installation collage done by a hypoglycemic art student is not the best solution to this quandary. Enter the Fuelselage, a slick, integrated, and aero nutrition storage system that keeps your food within reach and the extra tape in the garage. But what’s speedy nutrition without comfort? The Sitero saddle not only keeps you comfortable for longer, but it’s unique design helps rotate your hips forward for more power. Looks like your bike split is about to go to 11.

Sometimes breaking the rules is exactly what’s needed. That’s what we did with the S-Works Shiv. We took the UCI rulebook and threw it in the trash. We then proceeded to engineer the fastest triathlon-specific bike we could. Focusing on the Aero.Fuel.Fit. ethos, we developed the Fuelcell and Fuelselage integrated fuel storage systems. By designing a drink and storage system directly into the bike you’re able to stay on top of your nutrition while retaining an aerodynamic advantage. It’s more than just a bike, it’s an integrated cycling solution, so all you have to do is pedal and think about that run you’ve still got to do.

The S-Works Shiv TT dares to laugh back. It’s designed to be the fastest bike against the clock, period. Featuring UCI-legal aerodynamics, fully integrated cockpit, FACT 11r carbon construction, and near infinite position and fit options it’s more than prepared for the battle against the stopwatch. With more professional wins to its name than Eskimos have words for snow, the Shiv TT is the ultimate no-holdsbarred clock killer. Oh and did we mention it’s won every single Men’s Individual Time Trial World Championship since it was introduced in 2009? Now you know.

Man is a funny creature. If something has wheels, he will figure out a way to race it, and explore every performance advantage in pursuit of victory along the way. Yep, we’re guilty, too. So, how could we make the only full-suspension XC bike to win Olympic gold and multiple World Championship gold medals even faster? By assembling our team of designers, engineers, pro racers (actually, our designers and engineers race, too), and suspension experts to develop a completely new FACT 11m carbon frame with SWAT technology to carry ride essentials, a smarter Brain shock controlling the most-refined FSR suspension to date, and round it out with our revolutionary Roval Control SL 29 wheelset.
