Social Investment 2014: Innovations in funding Following on from the success of our Social Investment 2013 Conference and the ongoing reception of SI magazine, we are delighted to bring you Social Investment 2014; Innovations in Funding for Economic Growth on March 13th 2014. This event is supported by the Scottish Charity Finance Group, ACOSVO, Foundation Scotland, Social Enterprise Scotland, Children in Scotland and SI magazine. Our event sponsors are Charity Careers Scotland and Virtuo Wealth Management. With on-going austerity measures and Westminster budget cuts affecting budgets for Scottish Government, Scotland’s local authorities and public bodies there has been an inevitable and increasing reduction in both spending onservices and preventative spend to tackle Scotland’s social problems. In spite of this Scotland’s third, social enterprise and social funding sectors have remained resilient and undertaken steps to adapt to these changes and reinforce these sectors which will serve to be a major driver of Scotland’s economic recovery through efficient and cost effective service provision and a willingness to be at the forefront of the generation of much needed jobs. In this event we will examine the lessons of the past year and developments for the year and years to come such as the potential of the sector to tap into renewable energy assets for sustainable long term funding, new initiatives which will bring long term funding to the sector and new legal mechanisms which will allow the sector in Scotland to reap the rewards of payment by results models. As the new mechanisms and funding sources above are long term models they present a real opportunity for the organisations that can and do embrace them to plan for several years ahead and provide increased number of the high quality services it already provides while creating much needed new, high-quality jobs and career development of employees to help stimulate the economy.
