Social Investment 2013 Following on from the success of our March 2012 Social Impact Bond Conference and the reception of SI magazine, we are delighted to announce our first annual Social Investment Conference on April 15th 2013. This event is supported by the Scottish Charity Finance Directors Group, ACOSVO, Foundation Scotland, Social Enterprise Scotland and SI magazine. Our event sponsors are NG Homes, ANSVAR Insurance and CrossReach. With on-going austerity measures and Westminster budget cuts affecting budgets for Scottish Government, Scotland’s local authorities and public bodies there has been an inevitable reduction in both spending on services and preventative spend to tackle Scotland’s social problems. With these challenges however there comes the potential for a variety of opportunities for the sector to adapt, evolve and deliver a wealth of social impact and outcomes through innovative and accountable social investment. This event will examine these issues, developments and opportunities.
Session 1:
The Continuing Evolution of Social Investment In this introductory session, we will look at the experiences of some of Scotland’s largest grant makers and social investors over the past year, how they feel the sector is changing and evolving, their thoughts on new investment models and how this will affect their work going forward.
Session 2:
Seizing New Opportunities In this second session, we look at new funds which are coming onto the market and how Scotland’s third and social enterprise sector’s can benefit. Alongside this we will hear how various organisations have been taking advantage of innovative funding models over the last year.
Session 3:
Generating Greater Impact Through Trading, Financial Management and More Our third session will hear from industry leaders on how trading and social enterprise activity has allowed their organisation to increase the value of service that they can offer their clients. This will be explored in tandem with analysis of how efficiencies and sound financial management can lead to improved services and long term financial security.
