Section 079500 Expansion and Seismic Joint Cover Systems

QA/QC Plan A. Manufacturers: Obtain each type of seismic joint assembly from a single manufacturer. One manufacturer may be used for exterior joints and a different manufacturer may be used for interior joints. B.

Installer: A firm which is acceptable to manufacturer of seismic joint units, and has experience in installation of units similar to units indicated.

C.

Single Source: Provide materials from a single manufacturer for exterior expansion joint assemblies.

D.

Fire Performance: Where indicated, provide seismic joint assemblies with joint cycling requirements per ASTM F1399. 1.

Surface Burning Characteristics for Fiberglass Composites (Interior Applications): UL Class 1 per UL 723 (ASTM E84).

Pre-Installation Conference: Schedule a job conference to review the work prior to scheduled commencement of work on the actual building in accordance with Section 013100 – Project management and Coordination. Conference shall be attended by Installer; manufacturer’s representative; Owner’s Representative, Architect and other representatives directly concerned with performance of the Work. The following major considerations shall be reviewed at conference: 1.

Review system requirements, including shop drawings, specifications, installation instructions and warranty requirements. Should any discrepancies arise, they shall be reviewed and resolved.

Review trade related schedules.

F. Prior to installation; 1. Before beginning installation of these joint covers, review the architectural drawings and approved CS shop drawings to familiarize yourself with the joint cover models and locations. 2. Check all of the joint cover components to confirm that the correct joint cover model and size have been received. Also check for materials that may have been damaged during shipping. Report all incorrect and/or damaged components to CS at 800-233-8493. 3. Joint covers must be securely mounted to structurally sound substrates. Repair all cracks (By SBB) or spalled areas of the concrete deck. The mounting surface must be clean and free from any loose dust, dirt, debris and oils. 4. All materials should be arranged in the order that they are to be installed. All hardware required for each portion of the work should be placed with the appropriate materials .Review all Approved Shop Drawings and this Document to familiarize yourself with all the details and components of this assembly .Prior to the commencement of Installation, all materials MUST be inspected for Damage. Any damage must be reported to CONSTRUCTION SPECIALTIES, INC., as soon as possible, so that replacement materials may be furnished without delay. All work must be completed as per Architect's Approved "Shop Drawings", and in accordance with these Installation Instructions. When installation is complete, all materials must be protected from damage until the Architect's FINAL INSPECTION G. Post Installation QAQC Checklist; 1. Ensure all installation requirements were met and are satisfactory. In order to ensure all installed products, meet quality guidelines, foreman must perform QAQC Checklist found on page 4 and 5 of the Quality Plan. 2. QAQC Checklist must be submitted to General Contractor after every shift. The QAQC must include all models installed.
