Welcome to a new academic year at the School of Public Health (SPH). We’ve put together this bulletin to let you know about events, opportunities and related resources available 4U@SPH. This is your opportunity to learn more about the events and resources that will give you a chance to connect with faculty, staff, students and others who are linked with the School. Inside, we point you to resources, so that you’re always informed about what’s coming up on the calendar over the course of the next academic year. Events and Seminars Put your work aside for a while. Take a break, join us for some fun, and get to know people in the School. Welcome Back BBQ

Start the year off right at this School-wide BBQ. There will be great food and games for students, staff, faculty and their families. An Evening Out at the Pint

Come join the School of Public Health Students’ Association for an evening on Whyte.

First General Meeting - School of Public Health Students’ Association

Come meet your council members, and learn how you can get involved in the School of Public Health Students’ Association.

Beach Volleyball

Come join the School of Public Health Students’ Association for an evening of sun and beach volleyball.

Curlapolooza

This has become an annual tradition amongst School of Public Health-ers—and you don’t even need to be a curler. Get on the ice and throw a few rocks.

CIBC Run for the Cure

Come join the School of Public Health Students’ Association fundraising team by running in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Your UAlberta address

All correspondence from the School will only be sent to your University of Alberta e-mail address. All University of Alberta students are issued a CCID, password and email address at the time of application online. If you have misplaced your CCID, contact Academic Information and Communication Technologies (AICT) Help Desk at 780.492.9400, or email helpdesk@ualberta.ca.

Student List Serve

Your UAlberta email address has been added to our student list serve. Email messages that are intended for all students will generally be sent to this list serve. When you receive such a message, you will see that it is directed to SPH Student List Serve at this address: sph-students@mailman.srv.ualberta.ca. For example, the news bulletins described at right will be sent to you in this way. Watch for them.

As a student, there are several news bulletins that you will receive from various offices in the School to keep you well informed:

Education News Sent every two weeks, this bulletin from the Education Office includes educational opportunities, policies and procedures, student forum announcements and scholarship and awards announcements.

HR/Admin/Finance News Sent to you on an “as needed” basis from the Financial and Human Resource Services Office, this bulletin includes job opportunities, staffing announcements, human resources policies and procedures, and so on.

School News and Events Sent every week, this bulletin from the Office of Marketing and Alumni Relations includes information about School, alumni, student and University events; volunteer opportunities, lectures and seminars, and student and staff accolades.

Healthe-news – This newsletter arrives in your inbox each month and connects you to news about research, activities and people in the School.
