2018 ANNUAL REPORT
GIRL SCOUTS ARE WILD ABOUT NATURE! Through Girl Scouting, girls experience outdoor adventures they may not have in other places – and they get Wild About Nature! The 2017-2018 theme inspired girls to learn how to protect our environment, explore nature trails, discover wildlife, pitch a tent, and develop new outdoors skills. Spending time outdoors can have a variety of potential benefits for girls as they develop problem solving skills, overcome fears, tackle new challenges, and grow as leaders to help other girls. And for many girls, these outdoor opportunities are unique to Girl Scouts. Seventy-one percent of Girls Scouts report experiencing their first outdoor activity through the Girl Scouts program.
Because of Girl Scouts... • 71% of girls tried an outdoor activity for the first time
• 71% of girls improved an outdoor skill • 48% of girls helped other girls do an outdoor activity
• 29% of girls overcame a fear of an outdoor activity

A First in Nebraska Since its first riders zoomed across prairies and through the woods in late 2017, the Soaring Hawk Zip Line Tour has attracted adventurous Girl Scouts and members of the public to Camp Crossed Arrows in Nickerson. The five-station course was the first of its kind in the state.
Taking Aim Girl Scouts honed new skills at a tomahawk course that opened in fall 2018 at Camp Cosmo near Grand Island. Thanks to volunteer feedback, skill, and labor, the course provides Girl Scouts an opportunity to challenge themselves in a fun, new way at camp.
