2019 ANNUAL REPORT

World Thinking Day 2019

Girl Scouts Building bridges, locally, Globally Every Girl Scout is a part of a special group of girls that stretches not just across the United States, but around the world. The 2018-19 program theme, Local to Global, encouraged girls to celebrate the sisterhood of Girl Scouts, learn about other cultures, explore global leadership, and discover connections between local and global issues. With advances in technology, our world is getting smaller, making global awareness more important than ever. Girl Scouts were challenged to be part of something big and to make a true impact as citizens of the world. Girls united to take action through Global Action Days, World Thinking Day,

New Adventure at Camp Catron Girl Scouts and the public are testing their bravery and skills at Eugene’s Adventure Course, new at Camp Catron in Nebraska City. The course, named for the late Girl Scout benefactor and outdoor enthusiast Eugene Catron, spans two levels, offers 16 challenge elements, and reaches heights of 35 feet, giving girls the opportunity to face their fears, sharpen their focus, and grow their confidence.

Extending Our Reach Thanks to new grant funding, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska was able to extend its Community Outreach Program to schools in North Platte, Ogallala, and Paxton, and expand its presence in Lexington. Our Girl Scout outreach troops change lives by reaching out to the girls who need us most – those who wouldn’t otherwise have the resources to participate.
