ROYALTY CONTEST General Rules
8 Compelling, confident public speaking is a crucial skill that is often not developed in a young person’s formative years; however, it can strongly impact how youth view themselves and how they develop and succeed. The poise and increased command of public speaking that are gained from competing in the Royalty Contest will not only help youth in school, but also empower them in any situation they encounter in life.
8 Mr. SPJST and Miss SPJST are considered to be the youth ambassadors for the Society. As such, they represent SPJST at several public events during their reign. More than anything, perhaps, the Mr. SPJST and Miss SPJST Scholarship Program is about presentation and poise and the ability to communicate effectively.
8 The Little Mr./Miss is a mentoring program designed for boys and girls who will be in kindergarten through fifth grades during the 2023-2024 school year. The Junior Mr./Miss is a mentoring program designed for boys and girls who will be in 6th to 8th grades during the 2023-2024 school year. This program was developed to allow our young members the opportunity to experience the world of SPJST before they are old enough to compete in the Mr./Miss categories. It is SPJST’s goal to provide the Little Mr./Miss and the Junior Mr./Miss contestants with fun opportunities to gain stage presence, manners, etiquette, poise, experience, and confidence and to develop public speaking skills.
Attire
8 Attire - Entrants will keep all attire tasteful and modest as they will be representing SPJST. The contestant’s clothing should fit well and be neat and clean to make the best presentation.
Additional attire rules apply for each contest. Failure of a contestant to wear the prescribed attire will mean their disqualification from the contest. The State Fraternal Director will determine attire appropriateness.
