BENEVOLENCE VOLUME 90 NUMBER 2
SPJST aims for repeat performance in 2002 It'll be a tough act to follow, but we're up to the challenge," says Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride, referencing the SPJST's sales performance. Preliminary reports indicate that 2,379 applications were written last year. The number represents an 88 percent increase over the 1,263 applications written in 2000. "We plan to repeat that performance this year," says Brother McBride. Accordingly, he says, the Vision 2002 membership campaign incorporates two key objectives. "The first objective, of course, is that we want to continue to meet the life insurance needs of our members and prospective members," he says. "That means continued emphasis on continuing education and sales training." "Our second objective is to achieve consistent production throughout the year. By pacing ourselves, individual and lodge sales quotas become much more attainable." The Vision 2002 campaign is loaded with incentives for lodges, sales representatives, lodge officers and lodge members — both old and young. The 2002 incentive program is outlined below. 2002 Incentive Program The application quota for the state is 2,100 applications for the year January 1, 2002 - December 31, 2002. The State must meet the 2100 application quota and the lodge must achieve its individual lodge quota before incentives are awarded. Individual lodge quotas are posted on page three. Lodge Incentives For each lodge that achieves its lodge quota and the State achieves 2,100 applications, the lodge will receive 1 1/2 times its lodge incentive amount. For example, if a lodge had

The lodge officers who promote the sales of SPJST life insurance and support the Vision 2002 program will be rewarded. The first 20 lodges that achieve their quotas (provided that SPJST achieves 2,100 applications statewide) will receive two trips for their lodge officers (and spouses) to Bossier City, Louisiana. Of those remaining lodges that achieve their quotas, five other lodges will receive two trips each to Bossier City for their lodge officers. Winning lodges will be responsible for holding a drawing among lodge officers for the trips. It will be the responsibility of the local lodge officers to evaluate their need for more sales representatives. They would be strongly encouraged to accept new sales representatives recruited from among their members by mail outs and by other means. Lodge officers would be asked to take part in recruitment of new sales representatives and allow field representatives time to promote the campaign. • Lodges would participate in monthly sales promotions. • Lodges would allow time during each meeting for members to complete membership referral cards.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: Lodges writing the defined number of new member certificates and completing the prescribed number of fraternal activities, qualify for cash incentives. Under guidelines of the Vision 2002 program, these incentives increase significantly if the lodge achieves its quota and the SPJST achieves its objective of writing 2,100 certificate applications in 2002. For details, please read accompanying article. Lodge quotas for 2002 appear on page three. • Lodges would set up process to welcome new members inviting them to lodge. • Lodges would promote fraternal activities, youth and youth club activities. • Contact civic officials, elected officials. • Bring a neighbor/friend to a meeting or social that is a prospect for membership. • Encourage lodge to have a social. • List relatives (children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, etc. who are not members to have them contacted). • Focus on members' children and their spouses who have not joined the SPJST Sales Representative Incentives Upon meeting individual sales representative quotas, the sales representative will receive $20 per application (cash prize) at the end of the year, December 31. Also the sales representatives meeting their quotas on a quarterly basis will have their name put into a drawing for a computer. Four computers will be given away during 2002 (one each quarter of the year). At year-end, all sales reps who achieve their sales quotas will be eligible to enter a drawing for 15 notebook computers.
