Bill Orsak named District One State Field Representative

The SPJST Youth Program is posting the highest youth participation in 17 years, or since 1985. And we are not stopping there! We are striving to have the biggest and the best youth program in the state of Texas. Summer is a time that we showcase our youth in the SPJST. Right now, our young people are preparing for State Youth Achievement Day. They are working hard on their crafts, talents, and royalty presentations. They are very proud to represent their lodges and their districts. You are cordially invited on August 10 to celebrate the achivements of our young people of the SPJST at the State Youth Achievement Day and State Royalty at the Frank W. Mayborn Convention Center, located at 3303 North Third Street in Temple. You will see some of the best crafts and talents in the state of Texas. And, our teens will amaze you in the king and queen competition with their public speaking abilities.

Bill Orsak has been selected as the new State Field Representative for District One effective August 1. He and his wife, Sheila, have two children, Josef Bill Orsak and Colton, and are all members of SPJST Lodge 9, Snook. Bill brings with him to the SPJST 20 years of experience in the life insurance business. He is a graduate of Snook High School and Texas A&M University. He has been active in several professional societies — among those: Council Member for City of Snook, Snook Lions Club, and Snook Volunteer Fire Department. Lynn Johnsen, FIC, previously was the State Field Rep for both Districts One and Five. She has now been assigned exclusively to District Five and Bill Orsak to District One. We're very proud to have Bill on the Insurance Department team at the SPJST and know he will provide an outstanding level of service to the sales representatives in District One. The event begins with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. A pizza lunch, which will include pizza, salad, tea and dessert will also be available for $3.50 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other food will be available throughout the day. SPJST youth who received first place honors at their district competitions across Texas this summer will compete at the state level in various competitions, including group and individual talent, nine craft categories, a special category, and youth club poster and scrapbook. Following judging, all crafts, special category projects, posters and scrapbooks will be displayed for the public.
Talent Begins at 11 am. The talent competition begins at 11:30 a.m. Young people ages six to high school senior will compete in dance, vocal, instrumentals and dramatics. Prior to the talent contests, the youth will compete in a special category contest. This contest is left as a surprise to all competitors until the day of the event. Past special category contests have included play-dough construction, story-telling, and drawing. (Continued on page 3.)
