SPJST marks 108 years of fraternalism The SPJST observed its 108th anniversary on Sunday, June 12, at the Texas Folklife Festival in San Antonio. Thanks to everyone who turned out to join in the celebration. It was fun — but like our first convention in Fayetteville, Texas, it’s one for the history books now. Then, as now, the key to SPJST’s success has been the active participation of its members. The SPJST remains a sound institution today because it has always had a lot of good, solid members who know how to work
together and build on positives. That’s the kind of spirit that builds hope and gets people involved. It’s that kind of enthusiasm that can build new lodges and resurrect programs that are inactive. Our challenge for tomorrow lies in being able to identify and isolate our problems, get creative and find ways to turn them into opportunities . . . The fraternal ideal will survive!
