Lodge 28, East Bernard Members Rudy and Henrietta Klecka Receive Prestigious Czernin Palace Award An East Bernard, Texas, man who 60 years ago began a friendship with Czech aviators flying for the Royal Air Force in Britain during World War II had no idea where that lifelong friendship would lead him after the war ended. The “crown” of what unfolded for him was announced recently in a letter to Honorary Counsul of the Czech Republic for the State of Texas Raymond J. Snokhous of Houston and West, Texas, from Czech Ambassador Martin Palous of Washington, D.C. Mr. Snokhous was notified that Rudolph A. Klecka and Henrietta Klecka are being awarded the bronze memorial medal “Czernin Palace” together with a diploma signed by the Czech Ambassador. The Czernin Palace is presented once a
often twice a year. Through these tours, literally hundreds of Czech descendants were given the opportunity to meet their ancestral relatives. Many would never have done so except for the leadership of Rudolph and Henrietta Klecka for over 40 years. This effort was the direct result of Rudolph’s friendship with those Czech aviators in England, and who had returned to their country.
