State Tournaments Begin with Progressive 42 Dominos

Congratulations to the 2014 State Progressive 42 Domino Tournament winners. They are, second from left to right, first place - Arnold Tydlacka of Lodge 13, Dime Box; second place - Lyn Olds of Lodge 84, Dallas; third place - James Hosch of Lodge 200, Bruceville-Eddy; and fourth place - Margie Faltesek of Lodge 48, Beyersville. SPJST State Progressive 42 Domino Tournament was hosted by members of Lodge 47, Seaton on Saturday, January 11, 2014. There were 20 players who registered to play in the tournament. Thank you to the members of Lodge 47 for the delicious kolaches and snacks during the morning’s eight rounds. At 12:15 p.m., we broke for lunch, and the lodge served grilled chicken, sausage, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, and some wonderful desserts.

Little Things Can Make A Big Difference

Players returned to their sets and played seven more rounds. The last round was completed at 3:30 p.m. Door prizes were drawn while results were being tabulated. Door prize winners were Frank Klinkovsky, Carolyn Coufal, John Hosch, Florice Tydlacka, Arthur Toth, and Dot Hughes. District Seven Director Bob Bayer, pictured above, has encouraged lodges, youth clubs, members, and friends to save and collect canned drink tabs and used eyeglasses for more than 10 years. The tabs are donated to Ronald McDonald House who sells them to raise funds for the House. The eyeglasses are donated to the Lions Recycle for Sight program that distributes most of the eyeglasses to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact. “We collected another large

amount of tabs,” Director Bayer says. “One lady brought a tow sack full of tabs, and two gallons came from New York City!” Director Bayer thanks lodges, youth clubs, members, and friends for continuing this collection that makes a difference.
