The Swope Park Rangers (3-1-0, 9 points) moved atop the Western Conference standings with a 1-0 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Wedneday and will now play the team’s third game in eight days when they take on San Antonio FC (1-1-1, 4 points) at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Toyota Field in Texas. Adrian Zendejas, one of eight players on loan from Sporting KC to feature for the club on Wednesday, recorded the team’s first clean sheet of the season as Tyler Blackwood’s seventh-minute strike proved to be the game-winner in the mid-week match-up. After falling 2-1 at Sacramento in their season opener, San Antonio FC have secured back-to-back results with a 2-1 home win over Saint Louis FC and a scoreless draw at the LA Galaxy II last weekend. Former Sporting KC midfielder Mikey Lopez leads the team with two goals and one assist, however will be suspended on Saturday after being sent off in San Antonio’s last match. San Antonio also features former SPR striker Kris Tyrpak, who has a goal and an assist in 2018 after scoring 10 goals for the Rangers in 2016.
