WELCOME!
We can’t believe it’s time to celebrate the start of spring on Monument Avenue! This year is particularly sweet because we’re commemorating 25 years of the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k presented by Kroger! It’s hard to put into words what it’s been like watching RVA’s Biggest Block Party grow and evolve over the last quarter century, but I’m going to try!
It takes a special kind of community to keep an event going for 25 years, and Richmond hasn’t just kept the 10k alive…it’s allowed it to thrive! Every year the excitement of race day hasn’t just stayed the same, it has amplified. As runners and walkers arrive at the start area there is a buzz you can feel and it stays with you all 6.2 miles. From spectators to dancing grannies, welcoming volunteers, encouraging signs, runners in costume, and electric bands—the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k has it all! It’s hard to find a run that appeals to serious runners, walkers, those looking to have fun, or those looking to start their active living journey, but we have it here in RVA. We’re so incredibly grateful that
with our community’s help this event has become a can’t miss occasion for our region.
Over the past 25 years, this event has become so much more than an event to so many. This year we honored the people that have been a part of the 10k since it began in the year 2000 and heard amazing stories of triumph, tradition, and fun. The Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k is a place for people to support each other, find community, strengthen friendships, raise money for cancer, and more. There are so many reasons to participate and that’s what makes it so special.
This year is bound to be the best #Ukrops10k yet because you’ll be out there with us. Cheers to 25 years of the 10k and the many more years to come!

Sports Backers invests in the future of active living in our region through our youth programs—Kids On The Move and the Active Living Leadership ALL Stars. From the youngest kids getting an opportunity to be a part of a running or fitness club, reaping the socio-emotional benefits while moving more, to those on their way to adulthood and applying to college, Sports Backers is passionate about supporting Richmond region youth. We do this by providing the resources they need to be successful, whether that be a pair of athletic shoes for a child in need, covering the cost of bus transportation for a run club to attend one of our signature events, or providing leadership training and scholarships to promising student-athletes.
Your donation makes it possible for us to support the most important part of our community—our kids. They are the future and we know that by investing in them and instilling healthy habits now, it benefits us all.

EVENT DO'S AND DON'TS
For the enjoyment of all participants and spectators, please adhere to the following event rules:
• No strollers, baby joggers, animals on leashes, skateboards, skates, handcycles, or bicycles will be allowed on the course. This will be strictly enforced.
• No one other than registered race participants may cross the finish line. Please do not have anyone join you for the final stretch. This is strictly enforced.
• The post race food area is for registered event participants only. Please do not bring family members in with you.
• Please do not leave any personal items at the start line. Anything left behind at the start line after the last wave has departed at 9:30 a.m. will be collected and either disposed of or donated to local charities.
RACE DAY PARKING & TRANSIT
We want parking to be the least of your concerns on race day, and with so many options and proper planning, it can be!
GRTC PULSE OFFERS FREE BUS RIDES FOR ALL!
The GRTC Pulse is Zero Fare! There are a handful of bus stops located within a short walking distance to the start line at Broad Street and Harrison Street. Plan your trip now with the GRTC Trip Planner
RIDE YOUR BIKE
Bike Valet service will be available in Monroe Park from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Race Day for registered 10k participants. Your bike will be in good hands while you enjoy the festivities!
RIDESHARE
RideShare is always a good option these days! To avoid road closures, we suggest using 711 W Main Street as your drop-off point.
PAID PARKING DECKS
These spaces fill quickly but you can pre-purchase your parking spot and reserve a spot now!
STREET PARKING
The City of Richmond offers ample street parking. We recommend going east of Belvidere to find on-street and surface-lot parking. Keep in mind that these are always first-come, first-serve and road closures might affect availability. Click here for more information on road closures and parking restrictions.
To lessen the chance of getting stuck in traffic, please avoid the Belvidere exits off I-95 and I-195, and instead go farther east and exit on 3rd Street, Broad Street, or Franklin Street.
WAVE START INFORMATION & SCHEDULE
What are Waves? It’s pretty simple actually. Instead of one big start with all 24,000 people taking off at once, we divide everyone into over 25 waves. Each wave is organized by people’s expected pace so that everyone can run with others their own speed. Waves start with the fastest runners, then go to slower runners, then joggers, then walkers. You selected your own wave when you registered.
While lining up on Broad Street, please look for the volunteer holding the wave sign that corresponds to your bib. For example, if the wave listed on your bib number is SB, then you will look for the “SB” sign. Your group will be walked into the starting corral as the start time for your wave approaches. Wave Security will be on hand to make sure that you are lined up with the correct wave.
PLEASE NOTE:
• If you wish to start with someone who is in a different wave, you may do so by starting in the slower person’s wave. In other words, you may drop back to a slower wave, but no one may move up to a faster wave. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!
• Be sure to pin your bib number to the front of your shirt. You must wear your bib number to be admitted into the starting corral. Your race number also contains your timing device. Please do not bend or fold your bib as this may damage the timing device and prevent you from receiving an accurate time.
• Remember, we have chip timing to record your exact start time, so your results will accurately reflect the time it took you to run the race no matter which corral you start in.
