Camps Craze  RETURNS

Welcome to what is now our 12th annual Camps & Clinics Resource Guide. The camps and clinic business is booming once again.

If last spring and summer didn’t feel like “normal” had completely returned after two-plus years of pandemic caution and hesitation, this camps season certainly will. At least that’s the impression I came away with after sifting through hundreds of potential camps and clinics offerings to highlight in our listings.

We’ve included several camp options of varying expense across more than 12 categories, and any of them are sure to lead you down a rabbit hole to several other options.

One of my favorite parts of building out this guide though is talking to current standout high school athletes about their own camp experiences. What do they most remember? What did they gain that they still utilize? What would they do differently if they were a camp director?

This year we interviewed six new athletes and have decided to highlight their answers in a variety of full-page layouts for the first time. Hopefully that draws a little more attention to something that might help inform a prospective camp-goer when looking for their own camps to attend this spring or summer. What’s a better gauge than the thoughts of one’s peers?

A few of my favorite answers this year included a softball player noting how much pacing was important to her. She hates standing around. I also got a good chuckle from a wrestler’s response to having a good menu available.

We also included some of our favorite responses of the past throughout the listings, too. Those listings and high school responses are accompanied by some of the best advice we’ve received from actual experts over the years.

Longtime camp directors weigh in on the criteria players and parents may want to consider when planning out what camps to attend. Be sure to check out the “Top 5 Things” spread on Page 24-25 where experts note things to consider about camps for specific sports.

Now I’m just going to get out of the way and let you check it all out. I might just see what I can find for my own 8- and 12-year old.

Happy hunting!

Girls Club Volleyball Begins Its Final Month, Building To A Crescendo With NCVA’s Two-Weekend Far Western National Qualifier Tournament In Reno

April. It’s the month of Peeps, Easter eggs and lots of girls club volleyball.

The Northern California Volleyball Association’s final full month of major competition for the girls began on the month’s opening weekend as 30 of the top 18U teams from the region competed for six USA Volleyball National Championship bids at the Capitol Sports Center in Sacramento.

The 16U Power League will also have its final round of league play in early April, and the Premier League wil do the same for all of its age divisions.

However, the crown jewel of the NCVA’s April is always the Far Western National Qualifier event that takes place at the Reno Sparks Convention Center at the end of the month.

This will be a two-weekend extravaganza with the 11U-15U teams taking over The Biggest Little City from April 22-24, followed by more 15U teams in addition to 16U-18U from April 28-30.

The opening weekend will feature 19 different divisions across the five age groups. Fourteen of those tournaments will be awarding at least one national championship bid. And half of those are offering two or more. There will be 14 divisions in action over the second weekend with 10 of them having national bids up for grabs. Of those 10, eight have more than one bid on the line. The USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships will be held in Indianapolis from June 23-July 4.

According to NCVA, both weekends will combine to host more than 1600 teams — a near 20 percent increase from 2022 registration numbers. Teams will predominantly be from California and Nevada, although some are registered from a number of other states including Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, Idaho and Texas.

As has become custom with NCVA events like this over the last year or so, the Far Western National Qualifier will feature recruiting combines during both weekends. They are video combines. Registered players are filmed at a number of skill stations, and then their highlight video and contact information are dispersed to all collegiate programs from Division I institutions to junior colleges. The combines, which are open to all girls from grades 8-12, will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. on April 21 and April 27. The cost is $120 per athlete and registration is open at ncva.com/farwestern/

finding the

RIGHT FIT

Summer camps should be an awesome experience for all children. The focus should be on fun, education and being active. After being involved in youth sports camps for more than 30 years, I’m excited to offer these tips.

When selecting a summer sports camp, or any summer camp for that matter, it is very important that you do your homework. The following information will be very helpful to parents attempting to find the most engaging programs for the kids to participate in this summer.

Many of these topics may seem to be common sense, but as a father of two active kids I know how important it is not to skip any of the steps.

1. TAKE TIME. Figure out your family needs. Is the camp or camps going to serve as day care, instruction or vacation fun? If the parents are working and the kids need a safe place to go, do the times and scheduled weeks fit the needs of your family? Find out the ages of the participants to make sure that the camp is age-appropriate for your child. Many of us parents feel our kids are capable of playing sports when they’re very young. Although that is true on some levels, putting your child in a camp that is not age- appropriate, can cause major challenges.

2. TALK WITH YOUR KIDS. Once you know what you are looking for, it’s a good idea to be sure it’s something your kids will enjoy. Find out what your child is interested in or what they may want to learn, it can truly help to get buy-in and keep their interest the entire week. Many of us parents like to expand our children’s horizons by offering them the opportunity to try something new. I am a big fan of doing this in the camp environment. That being said, I do believe that a one-day clinic is a much better place to start than a commitment to a five-day camp.

3. THE FAMILY BUDGET. It does no good to find out about expensive camps or extravagant adventures if your family budget will not be able to handle it. Figure out if going to one one-week camp for $600 for is better than going to three different camps at $200 per week. The old saying, “You get what you pay for,” does hold weight here. However, often times Parks and Recreation’s, YMCA’s and other nonprofits offer some pretty cool unit programs at very affordable rates.

4. GET SPECIFIC. Once you have decided the type of camp or camps to register your child for, it is time to sift through the lots of options out there for you to choose from. Not every sport-specific camp is the same. If it is a basketball camp, does it offer competition, instruction or just fun and games. Be sure to ask questions and do your research online to find out specifically what the camp offers. Let’s face it, most of our kids want to go to camp to have fun and compete where we parents might want them

to actually learn some sport-specific and life skills.

5. WHO’S RUNNING THINGS? It is very important to know who will be working with your child. Don’t be concerned with just the name attached to the camp, but who will be doing the coaching or teaching every day. Find out what the camper-to- coach ratio is. Most quality camps offer a maximum 10 to 1 camper to coach ratio. This allows for maximum teaching and supervision for safety.

6. HISTORY OF THE CAMP. There are many camp companies. Some have been around a short while and others have a longer history. If you are going to put a deposit down or pay for a camp that is two or three months away, be sure the company is reputable and find out their refund policies. You can check with Yelp or other online ratings. Another tip is to check if the camp has a Facebook page. See who is posting information and that will help to give you a better idea of the experiences others have had at the camp.

7. LOCATION. It’s important to make sure that the location of the camp is going to be offered has quality facilities as well as being nearby your home or office. Are the facilities in a good neighborhood?

8. GO TIME. Once you have registered for the camp, you should receive a confirmation which should include all of the equipment or things you will need to bring to camp.

Find out if they provide meals or if there are supplies you may need to purchase separately. This one is personal to me. I remember when I signed my son up for a basketball camp at a local college. On paper it looked like everything would be great. Unfortunately, when we got there, he didn’t get to play in the big gym featured in all of the brochure pictures. He played outdoors half of the time and in the school’s auxiliary gym the rest. Part of the experience my son wanted was the opportunity to play on that big beautiful gym floor. Luckily the staff did a good job, and by the end of the week he ended up having fun at camp.

9. THE DROP OFF. Be sure you feel comfortable when you drop your child off at the camp. Often times the child might be uncomfortable because they are new to the sport or activity, but as the parents, we should always use our gut for judging. Parents will often sit and watch the first 15-20 minutes to make sure things are organized, running smoothly and the child is having a good experience. Be sure to double-check that the camp has your cell phone number or any other emergency contacts. Also be sure that you have a number you can use to reach the camp if needed. Finally, confirm the time for pick-up.

Whether you to go to one of the National Academy of Athletics camps or another, I truly hope your child has a safe, fun, educational experience. ✪

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp? Work hard. It’s important to play hard, and don’t be afraid of making mistakes. We are humans and we all make mistakes. If you get 1 percent better everyday then you’ll be 7 percent better in a week.

What did you gain from a camp setting that you couldn’t have gained in a practice setting?

I was always able to gain more information and learn more from the coaches running the camp. They have to run practice so it’s hard to get that one on one action but I’m camps, you are able to get those. What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you?

One thing that has stayed with me is working hard. Sometimes you go to a camp and you do not know what the talent is like. Camps can be a great motivator for you and a way to evaluate where you are as a competitor.

ALI BAMBERGER CARONDELET-CONCORD ’19 | SAINT MARY’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp? I would go back and tell myself to pay more attention to the lectures. At excel camps, there used to always be a meaningful lecture, and to us campers it was a break from playing and the heat outside. Now that I am older, I have heard replays of the camp lectures, and wish I would’ve payed more attention. Coach Frank Allocco was one of the best coaches I’ve met, and I wish my middle school self would’ve payed more attention to his insight on the game of basketball and life. What did you gain from a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

Since I am definitely a social person, I would have to say meeting new people. I got to meet new players and coaches throughout these camps. Everyday during these camps you were playing against new people: in games and every single competition. At practice, things can sometimes get monotonous, but at camps everyday was a new experience. What did the best camps you attended have in common?

All the coaches had great, welcoming attitudes. Being a young girl (in a coed setting), these camps didn’t have as many girls as boys. The camps included the girls, and let us compete against the boys. This was definitely another one of my favorite things. What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you apply today?

I think it would have to be, that basketball is fun. The game of basketball isn’t just as simple as putting the ball in the basket. It can be, learning new moves that you’ve never seen or tried before, and for me getting out of my comfort zone is something that made me great. Getting out of your comfort zone to learn new things, should be fun. It shouldn’t make you uneasy or worried. How else are you supposed to get better if you just constantly practice and do the same things?

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have? The first thing my camp would have, would be as many girls as possible. To me, growing the game of basketball for little girls is so important. Being able to compete with other little girls, is what’s going to make them fall in love with the game. When I was younger, being 1 of around 7 girls at a camp was intimidating. But being around more girls made me more comfortable. Camps aren’t always about purely becoming the best basketball player ever. They are about improving you as a player, but for some they are an exploration for if you truly like the sport or not.

and competition. Athletes will be divided into small groups of similar age and skill levels to ensure the best experience as they complete drills, and play games.

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

Just to play your game. And especially when in front of bigger crowds or scouts, the more you try to do, the worse it goes. When the moment is big, you often try to do something out of nature and things you can’t do. The more you stay within yourself is when you see the most success.

What did you gain from a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

In a camp setting, you definitely feel the atmosphere and

the crowd that you wouldn’t feel in a normal practice setting. Also, there is pressure when out at a camp. That’s something you can deal with on your own, going back to my answer about what I’d have told my younger self: The more you put on yourself to perform, the worse it goes. What did the best camps you attended have in common?

The best camps I attended were the ones that were most organized and led to the most reps. What set these camps apart from others — and made them the best experience for myself as a player — was they allowed each player to really showcase what they were good at throughout the stay at the camp. Even if the player didn’t have a good performance. Also, those camps were the

most hands-on with players. Instructors were not only with you the whole time, but talked with you about the game (the good and the bad).

What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you still apply today?

Although it’s hard to do, each game, each camp and each practice should all be the same in your mind.

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

The first thing I would aim for is to let the players be themselves and create the most game-like situations. Sometimes they are going to screw up, and other times succeed, it’s what makes baseball so unique. ✪

Do you have a favorite camp or clinic memory?

The QB Collective camp in Southern California. I gained the most knowledge at that camp that I have at any other camp by far, and had a great time competing/participating.

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

Focus less on going to a bunch of camps, but instead just working on my own craft and going to fewer camps. ... Instead of going to a bunch of singular college camps, go to two or three mega camps where there are many eyes in one place.

What did you gain from a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

If camps are done in the right way, it allows you to slow down and focus on certain specific pieces of your skill set without all the additional distraction/action.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

The best camps all gave me something to work on at home by the time I was leaving.

What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you apply today?

At QB Collective, the quarterbacks all learned a warm-up for arm care, and I use that same warmup before every time I throw the football now.

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

The one thing I’d want to have at my camp is either have it be a free or low-cost camp, so it is more available to everyone. Many great players aren’t able to attend certain camps because of the expenses that come with it, and they should get that opportunity.

BEAR RIVER-GRASS VALLEY ’20 | WESTERN ILLINOIS FOOTBALL

Do you have a favorite camp or clinic memory?

My favorite camp was definitely the University of Wyoming football camp. It was the best ran camp I have ever attended.

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

The biggest thing for me was that I always tried to get myself noticed at the camps by being the first one in the lines and first one in drills. Coaches loved to see who would step up first.

What did you gain from a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

The biggest difference between a camp and a practice is that you get to perform and compete in front of coaches and kids you don’t see everyday. Being able to compete against other great players makes it a whole new ball game.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

The best camps were the ones where the coaches actually interacted with the players. The coaches actually cared about teaching you the game. The best camps for me were the ones that were not in it for the money, but in it for the game and the players.

What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you apply today?

You never know who is watching, but someone always is. Work hard in everything you do at the camps because you never know if someone is watching you or not.

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

I would start with a coaches introduction. So every player knew the coaches or who was helping, that way they would feel more comfortable asking questions. The camps that didn’t do this made it harder for me to go up to coaches to ask questions. When they did the introduction at the start, I felt more comfortable talking to them about the game.

DEREK THOMPSON De La Salle-Concord Football •  Senior

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

To treat camps more like games. My preparation for a few of the camps I attended over the years was lackluster. What did you gain from a camp setting that you may

not have gained in a practice setting?

A chance to go against different playing styles. It gave me good game prep. In practice everyone is taught the same technique, and to do the same thing, so it’s good to see something different in a non-game setting.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

The best camps I went to were definitely the smaller ones with maybe a couple different schools in attendance.

The ones that come to mind college-wise were UC Davis and Cal. The Under Armour All-American camp down in Los Angeles was also really cool as well. I would say the smaller, the better, though.

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

Knowledgeable coaches for sure. Also, a limit on how many kids can attend. ✪

Do you have a favorite camp or clinic memory?

Northwestern and Notre Dame camps in Colorado last summer. Competing with other top players from all over the USA reinforced that if I keep working, I can play at the next level! Plus, I love the thin air when hitting!

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

Relax and be the player that I am, and not try to be a player I am not. I want to make sure coaches see my game

and who I am as a player and teammate.

What did you gain for a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

Tips and feedback from other coaches that are seeing me and evaluating me for the first time.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

Organization, high level talent, great coaching, less campers — and a fast pace

What’s the one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you still apply

today?

My camp experiences reinforced to play with joy and embrace every opportunity. I also learned a specific glove technique on forehand short hops and picks from Coach Kate Drohan at the Northwestern camp in Colorado last summer.

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

A lot of stations to get lots of good reps and good looks. Small manageable group of players to get more focused time with coaches/instructors. I don’t like standing around. ✪

When It Comes To Destination Running Camps, It’s Hard To Beat The Oregon-Based Youth Runner Options

Nick Slenning knew it when he first experienced it.

What started on a recommendation from his high school track coach, has since turned into a full-blown summer passion.

Slenning first attended a Youth Runner Camp in 2017 to be a camp counselor for its Middle School Elite Camp. This year, when the middle school camp gets going in Mt. Hood, Oregon, on July 31, Slenning will be there to serve his second year as Camp Director.

“Definitely the connections are what I’ve come back to year after year,” Slenning said by phone from his home in Portland where he teaches and coaches track for Oregon Episcopal School, a high school on the southwest outskirts of the city.

“At the end of the day, running is running. And going to a camp you might get some different coaching styles or learn a few tips and tricks, but (at Youth Runner) it’s just awesome to see the kids connect the way they do.”

That said, there’s a lot more to making connections at the Youth Runner Camps. That includes guest speakers — both coaches and athletes — great trails amongst some wonderful scenery, and access to some of the biggest national track meets.

Three different camps make up the Youth Runner Camp Series in 2023. It start with a two-day event in Eugene, Oregon, on July 23-24. That camp takes place during the week of the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships being held at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Following that week, the camp series heads for Mt. Hood where it hosts a pair of camps over the first two weeks of August. The Middle School Elite Camp runs first for up-and-coming runners aged 11-14.

“The fact that it’s strictly middle schoolers is in itself unique,” Bob Williams said prior to the 2022 camps. Williams has been a long time administrator for the camps. He was a decorated University of Oregon runner and steeplechase AllAmerican in the 1960s. He’s coached at Concordia University and several high schools over the years.

“We’re in a position to help these kids learn how to be the best they can be as runners and people. Typically we have kids who are competitive, who love to run and love to learn.”

Part of that legacy now holds a roster spot on the University of Oregon Men’s Track & Field Team. Ducks freshman Ben Balazs, a Portland native, has attended the Youth Runner camps since fifth grade. It’s a good bet he’ll be back as either a counselor or guest speaker this summer.

Slenning noted the number of great guests that come to speak to the campers, but — no shock here — he most looks forward to just running with the kids.

“It’s just so much to play games and run around with these kids,” the camp director said. “The stories that they already have from attending their own meets, I just really love hearing them.”

The camp series wraps up with another week at Mt. Hood from Aug. 7-11. This camp is open for runners ages 13-17.

If you’d like more information on the Youth Runner Camps, you can visit youthrunnercamp.com. Details for all three camps are there, as well as registration links. ✪

Do you have a favorite camp or clinic memory?

I would say, overall, just getting to meet a lot of new people whose goals are in line with mine. I have made a lot of connections to players from other teams who I otherwise would not have known prior.

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

I would say really listen to the instructions being given. Especially if it is a camp put on by college coaches. Listen

to their advice and try to implement what they teach into your game. I would also tell myself to ask questions. The people who put on and run great camps always have amazing advice and answers to any questions you may have.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

The best camps I attended had a lot of quality instruction. Learning is a key aspect to any camp and I felt like the most beneficial and worthwhile camps were the ones that taught me the most both on and off the field.

What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you still apply today?

Something I learned from doing numerous camps is how to adapt. A camp setting throws new instructors and players at you. Learning how to adapt to new instruction, as well as learning how to play with the athletes around you in a short period of time, is a skill that I feel I have improved on and take with me in any camp I participate in. If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

I would really want it to have knowledgeable instructors who know what they are talking about and are passionate about sharing their knowledge with campers. Camps that have instructors who are experts in the sport are the absolute best and most impactful camps. ✪

ISAIAH & ELIJAH CORTEZ

Gilroy Wrestling • Sophomores

Do you have a favorite camp or clinic memory?

ELIJAH: My favorite camp memory was when we got to play Sharks & Minnows with Kyle Dake (four-time World Champion, four-time NCAA champion and 2022 Olympic Bronze Medalist) at the Gilroy camp.

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

ISAIAH: Write down what you learned at the camp. That way you can incorporate in into your style of wrestling after you leave.

What did you gain for a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

ELIJAH: A camp offers the ability to test moves on kids who are outside of your normal practice partners.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

ISAIAH: They focused on little details in keen positions

that make a difference in the match.

What’s the one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you still apply today?

ISAIAH: Plan long warm-ups so you don’t injure yourself during practice.

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

ELIJAH: An organized schedule with high-level technicians and good in-between-time food. ✪

... When considering a baseball camp

›› 1. Instruction: It’s important to ensure that your child will learn proper fundamentals and technique that is age appropriate.

›› 2. Fun element: Having fun is a must to get players active and excited to continue playing.

›› 3. Accessibility: If you have to drive far, make sure the camp is stellar and fits with your needs for baseball instruction.

›› 4. Coaching staff: Qualified coaches who have experience, the ability to interact with players in a positive manner and communicate concepts to the age group being instructed.

›› 5. Games: Playing games is an important element as it provides a safe environment to try out the new skills they have learned without fear of losing a game.

... When considering a pitching camp

›› 1. Arm Care, Throwing and Mechanics: You cannot play without an arm. You cannot play at the next level without a strong arm. Do they provide accurate information and education on the biomechanics of throwing? What methods are they using? Video analysis, strength training programs, long toss programs? You do not want to leave the camp with an injury from inadequate coaching or arm care.

›› 2. Ratio of Coaches to Players: Are there a lot of athletes and few coaches? Has the camp invested in its staff making athletic development priority, or will you have limited time with coaches? Individual coaching is how you improve the most.

›› 3. Quality of Coaches: You want to be surrounded with baseball minds that have firsthand and successful track records in the sport. Are they knowledgeable about the game and have a history of developed & successful players? This is key

›› 4. Past Camp Participants: Research and see where former camp attendees have gone to play and how the camp has developed them. Do they have any MLB players or elite amateurs that have attended the camp?

›› 5. Attendance of Coaches and Scouts: The larger the attendance by scouts and coaches the better chance you have to impress. It only takes one scout or coach to get you to that next level.

... When considering a volleyball camp

›› 1. Serving: Becoming an efficient server is critical.

›› 2. Passing: This and serving are the two most important skills.

›› 3. Movement: Footwork, hand-eye coordination and reading the ball are all key.

›› 4. Attacking: Hitting and spiking, which is the most fun thing to do.

›› 5. Chemistry: There has to be team bonding.

Over the years we’ve asked various coaches and camp directors what they feel the most important things athletes and parents should look for when choosing a camp. Here's what some of the experts think

... When considering a basketball camp

›› 1. Fundamentals: Boring? Maybe, but everyone (and I mean everyone) can improve their fundamentals.

›› 2. Coach-to-player ratio: The fewer players per coach, the better. Any time there’s more than ten players per coach, it’s not a good situation.

›› 3. Adult coach-to-player coach ratio: Many camps rely on high schoolers for instruction, and though they may be good players, they’re not necessarily good teachers.

›› 4. No more than 3 hours a day: No one, not even coaches can concentrate for more than three hours, much less teenagers and below. After two hours really, it’s day care.

›› 5. Plenty of room: The more crowded it is, the noisier it is, and the harder it is to teach and learn.

... When considering to begin diving

It may be advantageous to have some background in gymnastics, martial arts or dance, but anybody can begin diving. Each diver is taught based on their skill level and comfort level. Key ingredients which make a successful diver include strength, grace and courage.

›› 1. The thrill of jumping and diving into water from heights ranging from 3 to 10 feet — and up to 30 feet if you’re on the diving team.

›› 2. Learning how to properly take off a springboard, both forwards and backwards. Part of this is entering the water head first in a ‘hollow’ position, and what you’re supposed to do underwater after each dive.

›› 3. Using a trampoline to work on fundamental skills that are part of diving, and to prepare you for learning new dives.

›› 4. Using a ‘Bubbleator’ (or ‘Sparging System’), which provides a huge mound of bubbles in front of the diving board, for learning new dives — just in case you happen to land awkwardly on the surface of the pool.

›› 5. Learning to be aware of your body in space (i.e. your proprio-ceptive sense).

MARIN CATHOLIC-KENTFIELD ’20 | LOYOLA MARYMOUNT VOLLEYBALL

Do you have a favorite camp or clinic memory?

Playing doubles with my friends and having fun.

What would you tell your younger self so that you could get more out of a camp?

I wish I could tell my younger self to start playing volleyball earlier.

What did you gain from a camp setting that you may not have gained in a practice setting?

At camp I got to play against older girls with more experience and got to learn from them.

What did the best camps you attended have in common?

They were all really fun and very informative and I got a lot out of going.

What’s one thing you learned at a camp or clinic that has stayed with you, and that you apply today?

That volleyball is a team sport (There’s no “I” in team)

If you were a camp director for your sport, what’s the first thing you’d want your camp to have?

I would want my camp to be fun, and a camp where people want to come back to. I also want my camp to be competitive where kids learn something new everyday.
