Die üblichen Öffnungszeiten in St. Moritz sind von 9.00 – 12.30 und 14.00 – 18.30 oder 19.00 Uhr. Am Samstag schliessen die meisten Shops bereits um 17.00 Uhr. Während der Saison bleiben viele Läden über Mittag durchgehend und abends länger geöffnet; manche Boutiquen auch sonntags. For the most part, shops in St. Moritz are open from 9 am to 12.30 pm, and from 2 pm to 6.30 or 7 pm. On Saturday, most of the shops already close at 5 pm. During the high season, many of them are open over lunchtime, and stay open longer in the evening; some boutiques are also open on Sunday.

The Roseg Valley is a small paradise on earth. A horse-drawn sleigh ride to the valley makes for an unforgettable experience. Wohli and his loyal horses take daily trips from the Pontresina railway station to the Roseg Valley and back: on schedule with the horse-drawn 'omnibus', as private horsedrawn sleigh ride, full moon ride, short distance rides in and around Pontresina or a relaxing roundtrip to the lake Lej da Staz. Guided rides and riding holidays for all ages are also offered as well as pony rides for kids. Wie die Marke selbst kombiniert er urbane Eleganz mit Komfort und Funktionalität. JIMMY CHOO konnte innert einem Jahrzehnt sein Label zu einer der begehrtesten Luxusmarken aufbauen und erhielt dafür einen Orden von der britischen Königin. This winter, three well known brands add to the boutique landscape of St.Moritz and reinforce its reputation as shopping metropolis of the Alps. The upcoming fashion label MONCLER, with its stylistically trendsetting down jackets with stores in Beijing, Vienna, Tokyo and New York, has now opened a superb flagship store with a natural and rustic décor in the pedestrian area in St. Moritz. As the brand itself, the shop combines urban elegance and comfort and is functional. Within a decade, JIMMY CHOO has led his label to be one of the most coveted luxury brands and was conferred an Order by the Queen of England. In addition to the 65 worldwide boutiques, one can now buy the cult shoes at the exclusive shop in the Via Serlas. In the nineties, TOM FORD led Gucci back to success. In 2003 the Texan fashion designer founded his own label, which attained cult status especially because of its rarity. In the most recent Bond motion picture «Quantum of Solace», Daniel Craig wore Tom Ford’s suits, shirts, ties and eyewear. All of these can be bought this winter in the Via Serlas in St.Moritz.

Pop-Up-Hair die Charles Aellen Company zieht nach St. Moritz Das Gebäude mit Namen «Chateau Papillon des Arts», das sich zwischen dem Kulm Hotel und dem «Dracula» Club befindet, war die längste Zeit eine Schreinerei. Und die, sagen wir, Haarspitze an dieser Idee: Kunden werden ausschliesslich von Charles Aellen und seinen Mitarbeitern bedient in der Qualität, die sie gewohnt sind aus Zürich. Ist vier Wochen nicht ein wenig kurz für diesen Aufwand? Das kann man so sehen. Doch gerade das macht den Charme eines Pop-Up Stores aus. Es gibt ihn nur kurz, aber genau dann, wenn er gebraucht wird. Ausserdem planen wir, den Pop-Up-Store in den kommenden zwei Jahren wieder jeweils für einen Monat zu betreiben, also im Ganzen drei Monate.

Wieso haben sie sich nicht in einen bestehenden Coiffeur Salon eingemietet? Das wäre mir, mit Respekt, irgendwie zu gewöhnlich gewesen. Es ist doch kreativer und auch eine interessantere Herausforderung, eine ehemalige Schreinerei in einen Coiffeur Salon zu verwandeln. Kommt dazu, bloss schon der Name «Chateau Papillion des Arts»... das hat etwas Magisches.

Besteht überhaupt das Bedürfnis für einen weiteren Coiffeur-Salon in St. Moritz? Ja, das denke ich. Das haben mir Kunden auch immer wieder gesagt. Und, ich meine, wer will während der Festtage und Partysaison in St. Moritz nicht so gut wie möglich aussehen?

Fünf Fragen an Charles Aellen Warum eröffnen Sie einen Pop-Up-Store in St. Moritz? Charles Aellen: Der Ort fasziniert mich seit langem. Vor allem während der Weihnachtszeit. Auch weil es dort dann die vielleicht interessantesten Gäste von Europa, wenn nicht der Welt, gibt. Wie sind sie zu dieser speziellen Location gekommen? Ich habe lange nach einem geeigneten Lokal gesucht, was schwierig ist in St. Moritz. Auch weil ich wusste, dass, falls ich dort einen Salon eröffne, nur ein spezieller Raum in Frage kommt. Das bin ich meinen Kunden schuldig. Dann bin ich, mit Hilfe eines Freundes, auf das «Chateau Papillion des Arts» gestossen. Nach dem ersten Besuch wusste ich, das ist eine spannende Location für mich und mein Team. Es brauchte auch ein bisschen Glück, damit wir unser Vorhaben umsetzen durften – doch das hatten wir.

Gunter Sachs war nicht nur Vorreiter in Sachen Lifestyle. Er war auch Unternehmer, Fotograf, Kunstsammler, Gentleman, Mathematiker, Astrologieforscher, Autor, Filmemacher, Bob-Champion und Wahlschweizer. Als St. Moritz-Freund hat er einst die Bobbahn gerettet und 1974 den berühmten Dracula Club erfunden. St. Moritz hat 2011 einen guten Freund verloren, dem es viel verdankt. Die Essential-Guide-Redaktion möchte ihn mit diesem Foto, auf dem er mit seiner damaligen Frau Brigitte Bardot zu sehen ist, in Erinnerung rufen. Gunter Sachs was not only a pioneer in the matter of lifestyle. He was also an entrepreneur, a photographer, a mathematician, an author, a filmmaker and a bobsled champion! Furthermore this gentleman was known for being an art collector, for commissioning research in astrology and for becoming a Swiss by choice. This man that loved St. Moritz helped to save the bobrun and founded the notorious «Dracula Club». In 2011, St. Moritz lost a very dear friend to whom it is very thankful. St. Moritz hat das unverwechselbare Flair einer kosmopolitischen Jetset-Metropole inmitten unverfälschter Natur. Hier wünscht man sich beinahe einen Tag mit stürmischem Schneetreiben. Denn die Galerien und Museen sind zu gut sortiert, um sie zu ignorieren. Das ist die Schattenseite überdurchschnittlich vieler Sonnentage: Möglicherweise muss ein Traumtag «geopfert» werden, um die neusten Ausstellungen zu begutachten. Aber es lohnt sich: Berühmte Künstler haben sich hier inspirieren lassen, weniger renommierte sich selber übertroffen. Ein Gang durch die Galerien und Museen inspiriert darum oft auch zu einem etwas anderen Blick auf das Vertraute. St. Moritz is surrounded by nature yet has the unmistakable flair of a cosmopolitan jet-set metropolis. Here one almost wishes for a day of snowfall, because the galleries and museums are just too good to be ignored. That is the downside of so many sunny days: one might have to «sacrifice» a beautiful day to see the latest exhibits. But it’s worth it: renowned artists have been inspired by the Engadine, and lesser-known artists have done wonderful work here. Galerie Peter Vann S-chanf Retrospektive Michel Scarpa – Bildwelten im Wandel – 1984 bis heute Aus dem künstlerischen Werk Michel Scarpas präsentiert die Galerie Peter Vann zwei aufeinander folgende Epochen, beginnend mit Papier-Collagen (ab 1984) – Inhalte aus Magazinen, Drucken, Comics und farbigen Flächen, die er mit Wasser getränkt zu Kuben und Ziegeln formte und großflächig neu komponierte. Mit Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts wechselt Scarpa vom klassischen Medium «handgefertigter PapierDruck-Stücke» zu digital generierten und bearbeiteten Medienflächen, die nach ihrer Komposition am Computer in einem Spezialverfahren auf Plexiglas gedruckt werden. Was beide Bilderwelten vereint: Sie sind immer Ausdruck ästhetisierter Spontanität. Sie zeigt sich in Scarpas virtuosem Spiel mit prägenden Inhalten amerikanischer Subkultur. Als Betrachter erkennen wir die Heroes der Magazine, Comics und Filme als alte Bekannte, um uns dann doch lächelnd überrascht durch Scarpas neue Visionen tragen zu lassen. Michel Scarpa Retrospective – Changing Pictorial Worlds – from 1984 to Today From the work of Michel Scarpa the Peter Vann Gallery presents two successive epochs, starting with paper collages (from 1984) using material from magazines, printed matter, comics and coloured surfaces which he recomposed on a grand scale by soaking in water and reshaping into cubes and bricks. At the turn of the 21st century Scarpa switched from the classic medium of hand-pressed paper to digitally generated and processed media surfaces which, after they have been composed at the computer, are printed on acrylic glass by a special method. What unites these two picture worlds is that their spontaneous expression always has an aesthetic character. This can be seen in Scarpa’s virtuoso handling of formative content from American sub-culture. ZUFFELLATO Vor kurzem hat der Engadiner Künstler sein neues Atelier in Zernez bezogen und läutet gleichzeitig eine neue Schaffensperiode ein. Marco Zuffellato arbeitet mit organischen Elementen wie Schwemmholz, Schädeln, Federn oder Rosshaar, aber auch mit rohem Metall und scheinbar sinnlosen Fundgegenständen. Daraus zaubert er mit intuitiver Schöpfungskraft Skulpturen und Objekte von archaischer Schönheit. Gestalten zwischen Licht und Schatten, Leben und Tod. Neben funktionellen und massiven Objekten lässt er seit einiger Zeit auch wieder seine «Totemmännli» aufleben – dekorative kleinere Figuren aus Holz. Seine Werke versprühen eine ganz eigene Ästhetik und entwickeln dabei beinahe mystische Energie – ähnlich den Kultobjekten primitiver Stämme. Das Atelier mit Showroom liegt mitten in Zernez, direkt an der Abzweigung zum Ofenpass. The Engadine artist just recently moved to his his new studio in Zernez and at the same time heralds a new period of creativity. Marco Zuffellato combines organic elements such as driftwood, skulls, feathers and horsehair with raw metal and seemingly mundane lost objects. The sculptures and objects created with intuitive creativity are mystic and of an appealing archaic beauty. Statures in between light and darkness, life and death. Besides functional and massive sculptures, for some time now he also revives his creations 'Totemmännli' - small decorative figures made of wood. His art aggregates a unique aesthetic quality with an almost mystic energy - usually only seen in cult objects of indigenous tribes. Im legendären «King’s Club» lassen Stars und Sternchen, Promis und solche, die es gerne wären, die Nacht zum Tag werden. Hier ist alles möglich.
