I work in a bold, loose style using ink and gouache. I aim to paint the atmosphere of Galloway. Still lives of fruit and vegetables show up regularly, and I’m not averse to a bit of collage.
What to expect: Visitors can see finished and unfinished work and watch me work at a very untidy but informative table. An abundance of bits and pieces i.e Lino prints, interesting brochures and pot plants. Want to try using ink and bamboo? Now’s your chance!
Free packs of greetings cards for Friends.
Recommendation: Harris and Co. 111 King St, Castle Douglas DG7 1LZ. Wonderful wine shop and deli selling all the things we don’t need but want!!
Directions: My studio is between King Street and Queen Street. Follow signs at town clock.
Accessibility: The studio is up a steep stair.
I am surrounded by trees, hills, wildlife and weather. I use dyepainting, appliqué and machine embroidery on cottons, linens, velvet and silk, to reflect the colours, textures and shifting light of the landscape around me as well as the birds which inhabit it.
What to expect: My studio with its sewing machines, materials, sketchbooks and work-in-progress has views out over the landscape which inspires me. There will be cushions, scarves and wall-hangings for sale and I will be happy to explain my techniques and processes.
10% off full-price cushions over the event.
Recommendation: The Smithy, New Galloway serves teas, coffees and lunches beside a very pretty burn.
Directions: On the A762, 1 mile north of Mossdale and 4 miles south of New Galloway.
Accessibility: There is some parking close to the studio which is on the ground floor with no steps but with raised thresholds.
