The Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) will host its annual Nonprofit Day Conference on March 4 at The Antlers, 4 S. Cascade Avenue. Attended by more than 450 individuals representing 235 organizations last year, the 2016 conference promises to provide nonprofit and business professionals, volunteers and community leaders with the insight they need to see their organizations excel, increase in knowledge and advance the nonprofit sector as a whole. “CNE’s Nonprofit Day Conference is vital to the health of our community,” said CNE Executive Director Dave Somers. “As the Center for Nonprofit Excel-

Low-to-moderate income families in El Paso County might receive a larger tax refund this year by claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). But, to get it, individuals must file a tax return and claim it. Pikes Peak United Way (PPUW) is now offering free income tax preparation assistance through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). Sponsored by the IRS , VITA helps individuals and families with household incomes less than $54,000 file a tax return and determine if they are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit of up to $6,000.
