The American Advertising Federation of Colorado Springs (AAFCOS) is in search of a local nonprofit organization in need of marketing, advertising and communications assistance. The main goal of AAFCOS is to support the local community and provide a substantial strategic campaign for a deserving corporation who could not afford it otherwise. Applications are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on August 31. AAFCOS board of directors will review all applications and select a deserving organization by September 15, based on the following criteria: • Current or past communications efforts • Marketing and advertising budget • Eligible nonprofit credentials In 2012, the AAFCOS board of directors launched a new community centered public service project designed to provide local nonprofit
Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation
After weeks of spotty weather and unseasonably heavy rain, participants in the first Climb for Courage stair climb race were treated to blue skies and a cool breeze on June 27 at the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium. More than 350 climbers, elite athletes and families came out to climb the 2,700 stairs. Thanks to the generous support of climbers and event sponsors, including presenting sponsor GE Johnson Construction, the event raised nearly $150,000 to help support the patients and families who depend on Children’s Colorado in Southern Colorado. World-class athlete Brandon Stapanowich signed up for the event as a way to get in a good workout, though his connection to the hospital is what really motivated him. “Being able to combine my love for sports and giving back to the place I love – CONTINUED ON PAGE 5 –
