CreekStone Homes invites you to get cozy ... you’re in a ComfortBuilt Home BY GINA CRONIN GINA.CRONIN@GAZETTE.COM
CreekStone Homes has always been proud to be a forward-thinking and innovative home builder. So, after researching building trends and new home buyer demands for features and performance, they realized that today’s consumers are educating themselves and expecting more from home builders. After all, shouldn’t buyers get the same innovative approach to a new home that they get from any other new product? With science and technology advancing more rapidly than ever before, CreekStone believes it’s their responsibility as homebuilders to bring those aspects into the building process. Going above and beyond the required building codes for energy efficiency is now the standard for every CreekStone Home. To achieve this performance goal for comfort and energy efficiency, CreekStone is now partnering with Owens Corning to build ComfortBuilt homes. Beginning with their new model in Wolf Ranch — now under construction at 9535 Tutt Blvd. — all new CreekStone Homes constructed with Owens Corning advanced Building Science will be built to a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rating that is currently unmatched in Colorado Springs. All new CreekStone homes will be wrapped in a blanket of PINK Insulation from top to bottom, outside to inside, to regulate the temperature throughout and keep the home cozy and comfortable year round. This means a potentially large increase in homeowner savings on heating and cooling bills, as well as comfort and overall livability when compared to a typical new-build or resale home. Once the program is fully implemented, every CreekStone Home will conform to ComfortBuilt Homes uncompromising energy standards. From Cordera, Wolf Ranch, Gold Hill Mesa and The Greens in Colorado Springs, to Stapleton, Adams Crossing and Creekside in Denver, the first ComfortBuilt homes are anticipated to be available for tours starting in late spring 2017.
“We’re very happy to be bringing our awardwinning homes to new communities with these amazing energy efficiency standards. Knowing that over 80 percent of new homebuyers consider the performance of their homes to be as important as the performance of their cars and computers made the decision to convert to ComfortBuilt standards an easy one,” says Jason Rose of CreekStone Homes. “It’s also important to note that building to ComfortBuilt performance standards will start from the foundation up. It’s not simply adding insulation. It’s an entire science that means changing construction methods to meet stringent guidelines that conform to the ComfortBuilt qualifications. Owens Corning is so committed to this high standard that their Building Science team is collaborating with CreekStone during the entire construction process. The shift in energy efficiency has become our company culture — a way of life. We’re very excited to be moving in this direction. We’re building for the future and we’re starting now.” CreekStone ComfortBuilt Homes will be built using proven scientific methods, including: Gasketed Air-Sealing: Unique air-sealing process protects against air-leakage to help stop unwanted drafts. Blown-In Insulation: Owens Corning loose-fill insulation fills the entire wall cavity, and won’t settle over time, providing thermal comfort. Continuous Insulation: Wraps the entire house with Owens Corning FOAMULAR Extruded – Polystyrene (XPS) Rigid FoamInsulation to seal out the elements and keep the home comfortable. By building with CreekStone Homes, clients will be assured of having the newest, proven building science from Owens Corning. They’ll be able to say good-bye to high heating and cooling bills, and hello to the comfort and durability that only comes with a CreekStone ComfortBuilt home … built with the science of comfort! ■
