nonprofits. When Bill McAfee, Founder/ Treasurer of The Peak Producers and President/Owner of Empire Title held round table meetings back in 2009 to determine what members wanted to achieve as a group, there was a unanimous, resounding call to direct their efforts to the community. And so a beautiful collaboration — established by Empire Title — began. Over the years The Peak Producers has achieved a lot. From picking up two tons of trash from major intersections alongside Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful, to supporting Partners in Housing and Special Kids Special Families, to running “adoptions programs� in partnership with Catholic Charities, they are committed to making a difference. With Catholic Charities, the group was able to connect with families in a very personal way. Adopted families were provided with housing, bedding, clothing, car maintenance and more for an entire year during their time of crisis — so that they can be helped back onto their feet. “Our part is to help give a hand up, not a hand out. We are drawn to people with no other resources in the way of assistance, who have initiative and a desire to transform their life,� said Cherise Selley, 2017 President of The Peak Producers and Owner of Selley Group Real Estate. “And it brings about

a spirit of cooperation among the top agents instead of a spirit of competition. They stand by each other to see something very special occur in the community that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.� Each year, the organization votes to bring their focus to a different charity. “It seems when our efforts are concentrated, we accomplish more as a group, and so that’s why we select an organization every year to come alongside us,� said Selley. This year, they are fixating their support

on Springs Rescue Mission. They are working to raise $50,000, which will go toward the nonprofit’s Work Readiness Program. Many people start this program in a state of homelessness and addiction, but throughout the year are provided with rehabilitation services and assistance; and by the end they are able to pursue a career and support themselves. Agents who are members of The Peak Producers have already generously donated $35,000, but the public is encouraged to visit ThePeakProducers.com and make a

donation to help meet the $50,000 goal, which will change the lives of so many determined people who have hit hard times. “It’s amazing because these Realtors are extremely busy and have no time to give — but they do, because they care. They’re not just writing checks, they’re volunteering their time and energy,� said McAfee. Some of the agents attend the Springs Rescue Mission graduation, which is held for individuals who have gone through the year-long program. They get to see first-hand the change

that they are making, and hear the success stories of those whose lives have been drastically improved. The Peak Producers also holds a Christmas party every year, where graduates are invited to share their success stories. “It is an amazing and powerful experience for the agents to come to the party and really see the transformations taking place,â€? McAfee said. The Peak Producers are members representing the top 10 percent of real estate brokers, who also have a vested interest in their local community.
