Times are changing, and real estate professionals are discovering that millennials are unlike home buyers from generations before them.

According to the National Association of Realtors Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends, millennials have grown to represent 32 percent of homebuyers, which signifies the largest segment of home-buyers. In addition, rising debt and deferred life events are also reasons millennials wait to settle down in a property.

Approximately 44 million Americans are paying off student loans and the average amount of student-loan debt has tripled over the past 20 years.

MILLENNIALS DO THEIR OWN SEARCHING

Millennials are some of the most resourceful people on the planet.

Because they are so tech-savvy, they are more likely to look for housing online than with an agent. In fact, the study showed 50 percent of millennials found homes using the internet compared to 31 percent who used an agent, favoring websites that include photos, interactive maps, and detailed home information.
