Fireplaces are made with soapstone from Finland. Nordic people found that soapstone fireplaces were efficient and retained heat well — and they would know, as Finland is one of the top 10 coldest countries in the world. These fireplaces burn wood with an efficiency of more than 80 percent. The radiant heat is released slowly and evenly to warm the whole space.

Many royal courts in 19th Century Europe had fireplaces made of soapstone from Finland. The Tulikivi Corporation reopened the soapstone quarry in Juuka, Finland in the 1980’s and started making their fireplaces.
