HUNTER is a cavolo nero that may be used for babyleaf production. HUNTER has an upright growth habit allowing for ease of harvest and also ensures good airflow through the crop during damp periods aiding in keeping mildew at bay. HUNTER has a dark green leaf that becomes thick as it matures. While HUNTER will continue growing to become a full sized kale, its leaf uniformity gives high yields when harvested at babyleaf stage. HUNTER has shown good tolerance to mildew in trials but will suffer in periods of high pressure.

RED RUSSIAN

RED RUSSIAN

RED RUSSIAN is a tall, upright kale with green leaves which have light purple stems and veins. The leaf margins are heavily serrated in a similar way to Mizuna. RED RUSSIAN is fast to grow making it an ideal variety for cool and cold conditions when the purple colour intensifies. If grown for babyleaf in warmer conditions RED RUSSIAN will mature as quickly as Mizuna and Mibuna and will need to be monitored closely so as not to miss harvest. RED RUSSIAN is an excellent inclusion to kale mixes alongside Hunter and Twisty.

TWISTY

TWISTY

TWISTY is a curled kale suitable for babyleaf production. TWISTY can be grown year round and shows strong tolerance to downy mildew in the cooler months. TWISTY is middark green in colour and produces high numbers of uniform leaves making it ideal for salad mixes. The frilled margins and thick leaves allow for high yields and ensures long shelf life. TWISTY is an ideal variety to complement Hunter and Red Russian in an all kale mix.
