A SYNOPSIS FOR CONNECTED MOBILITY DESIGN
My Graduation Project at Zeliot Connected Services Pvt. Ltd. was a significant exposure to a team of the industry and an outstanding experience of its working. Since I had practiced with the company before, it was easier to catch a grasp on it. My Graduation Project will be worked upon in 2 major parts. iTriangle Infotech recently rebranded. In the month of November, I helped develop a logo for the 13 year old company. Our aim was to have a younger, more powerful approach to the company yet following the long lasted legacy of the company.
My Graduation Project will mostly include the Rebranding of the company here on. Since the company currenty just has a logo, I’d have to start with defining a clear set of guidelines. Following this would be the entire corporate identity of the brand. Since it’s a 14 year old company, There are plenty of assets and materials to be redesigned. There are over 100 employees, therefore having a native theme template is a must too. Once this is done, the next major step would be to work on the iTriangle’s BLE app to configure its devices. Since the app already exists, it would be a challenge to redefine the flows and face the hurdles of
23
the older designs. The designs are to be in dark mode only. The second part dips back into Zeliot, where in I’m supposed to help create a defined design system for the brand since the logo feels outdated and doesnt have the strength the company is stepping on to gain in the near future. Since most IT and IOT companys are rebranding to a more customer centric and friendly portfolio, Zeliot too wants to fit into the market in a similar way. This would start with formulating a Proper distinct color palette for Zeliot. Following that we need a set of predefined illustration assets that can be taken up as assets to create further better illustrations. We also would have to study and update our primary typeface since Montserrat is currently overused on the web. Since the logo is already designed, its a reverse engineering step to redefine the guidelines. The corporate Identity segment doesnt just include designing the assets, I’ll also have to coordinate with vendors, negotiate, visit the print houses multiple times. This will give me an on field experience of handing pupil alongside the decision making
confidence. The workbook would be a tricky part because the minute details, even the gap between the lines can act as a hindrance in the user’s experience. One of the most tricky things to work on would be the MS office templates. Working on Microsoft Apps extemely user friendly, but making thems for it is where the tricky part lies. The Product brochure is to be made in both digital and print formats and has to be legible enough to have all the minute tech specs understandable. Making the projector templates has to be as simple as to be easily used by a complete non designer. The basic drag and drop is something that we’re aiming at here. The iTriangle Gazette would be one of the most interesting things to work on, since it is to be inspired by something like an old newspaper. The research behind it is going to be extremely intriguing along with the design. Packaging tech deevices is very tricky, since even the difference of a milimeter could lead to damage in transit. But I’m hoping to learn that as well Lastly, designing the website and coordinating with the programmer is what im looking forward to.

CONNECTED MOBILITY AND TELEMATICS IN THE FIELD OF FASHION AND LIFESTYLE
A Justification
25
FASHION BRAND AGGREGATORS AND FOOD DELIVERY In the fashion Industry, companies like Myntra and Nykaa are fashion brand aggregators ie. they don’t manufacture the products for the customers. The platforms that Zeliot is building can help these fashion aggregators organize their groundwork logistics. It is making a playground for these aggregators to reach their direct customers. As we have been observing in the market, there are millions of new brands coming up like Roadster, Urbanic, etc. each day., the reason that these brands are emerging is that the accessibility increased now, and that is because of the existence of these fashion aggregators. These aggregators are giving these new brands a platform to reach a set of customers directly. It’s difficult to imagine how much marketing and advertising would these small/new brands would have to do to reach their customers. These aggregators completely take care of that edge enabling these new brands to step into the market with just their production base built. When a customer reaches out to an aggregator, they’re bound to see new products, and new brands on their screens along with their usual ones,
they’re open to trying out new things too. The predominant reason for this increasing popularity is that here the people have the option to return. For instance: if Myntra claims that they can deliver a certain product in 2 days, they need a robust warehousing and supply chain management system that makes sure that the logistics of the entire plan can be precisely managed. We are the domain of the companies that are providing them the platforms and the solutions to optimize their logistics. And not just in the field of Fashion, but throughout the lifestyle industry too. Considering the food delivery industry, the route optimization. What route optimization does is, if there are 4 drops: A, B, C & D in the sequence of the orders, the solution that we provide will calculate the shortest route (keeping in check the order time, maximum delivery time and other factors) could be for instance: C, B, D & A. There are numerous other segments of the fashion and lifestyle industry where a proper connected mobility solution can revolutionalize their service making them way more stable and sound.

WHAT IS ZELIOT?
27
Zeliot is a new age deep tech company founded in 2018 with the vision of offering IoT platform-based solutions to enterprises and Automotive OEMs. Since 2018, Zeliot has successfully developed the platform and has hosted more than 100,000 devices. The current platform is used by the likes of Royal Enfield, Ashok Leyland, Indian Oil Corporation, Here Maps, and many other marquee customers.
a data computation package for the IoT device, this package will eventually run on the edge devices and will also us to control a lot of data parameters before sending it the cloud. The combination of platform products and the edge package will bring in a lot more efficiency in the way the IoT data especially telematics data is handled, this will lead to huge amounts of savings for our partners/ customers in terms of cloud expenses.
Zeliot is striving hard to create an ecosystem for the partners by allowing more control over what they would want to sell in turn to their customers. This can be achieved by developing modules on the fundamental level of the software platform, if we could reimagine how the platform modules like data processing pipelines, Telematics Hub, and Microservices are monetized, then the partners will eventually have more control over how and what they want to sell to their customers, who could be either large enterprises or Auto OEMs.
The GTM for Zeliot is by offering the above-detailed solution set as a deep tech product for IoT to all the partners across the globe.
With this vision in place, we are productizing each component of the software platform, we are investing a good amount of time & money to create
Zeliot’s Vision: Global Internet-ofThings Platform, We are building a ubiquitous, device-agnostic platform for the management of IoT devices. This platform will allow customers to create a connected ecosystem. Zeliot’s Mission: Deep Tech Platform for our Customers, Our mission is to offer a Deep Tech Platform for our customers, opening up different Revenue streams on Connected Vehicle Data, and improving the vehicle ownership experience for the end customer.

ZELIOT COMPANY PROFILE
29
Current Challenges for Automotive OEM: Customized Hardware - Vehicle architecture being very complex, there are limited options for OEMs to adopt connected vehicle technology comprehensively. Off-the-shelf hardware products will not be suitable as the requirements may vary across OEMs. Tangible ROIs - Tangible Return On Investment for the Automotive OEMs on the investment of connected technology is very limited. Connected Vehicle Technology - The current ecosystem does not allow all the individual stakeholders to reap the benefits of truly connected vehicle technology, which is resulting in lesser data monetization, lesser user engagement, and lesser offered services to end customers. Why Switch to the Zeliot Platform: Scalable - The platform is built to handle enormous amounts of data generated by IoT devices. It can handle more than a million devices sending data at the same instance. Portable - The entire technology stack is built in-house without dependency on the management services of platform providers, hence can be deployed on any
cloud server of choice. Elastic - The platform is made up of multiple components and each component can be stretched independently to accommodate different use cases. Device Agnostic - A robust ingestion layer of the platform allows any kind of IoT device to communicate. For telematics specifically, 1000’s devices are already integrated. Zeliot Offerings: Services SDK (Software Development KIT), Mechanic/Service Application, FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) Manager, EOL (End Of Line Application), End-User Application, Customised Telematics Hardware (Collab with iTriangle Infotech). Advanced Prognostics Services: Fuel Filter Prognostics - a) Algorithms use OBD parameters to determine the percentage level of clogging in the fuel filter. b) The Algorithm is run once a day with the recorded parameter values to monitor the percentage of clogging. c) Percentage Level of Fuel filter clogging : Service reminders after a threshold, Replacement reminders based on usage and service.

REBRANDING ZELIOT’S CLIENT -ITRIANGLE INFOTECH
**the logo was redesigned by me a while back
31 The older iTriangle logo had a lot of issues. The logo wasn’t timeless, it didn’t have any variations, there were 3 very different gradients in the logo, that gave birth to over a trillion colors on a single logo. Also, it was difficult to find a background that could hold the logo perfectly visible. The logo wasn’t scalable either. When we studied the trends in the industry, the color that represented them best is blue. And we chose to go with a wordmark logo since it’s better to play around within an IT Company.

PROJECT BRIEF
iTriangle’s recently got rebranded, I had deisgned the logo, but there were no brand guidelines or any other assets. The logo was of a slick blue color and the requirement of the brand was to have a wider palette majorly to assign to each segment of their devices. PREWORK DATA & LIMITATIONS I was provided with the vector logo in hand with a preference for the primary font to be Neue Haas Grotesk (Arial as
alternative). They wanted a wider palette so that it was easer to segregate device categories but the primary color had to be the logo Blue. I also had to choose the neutrals on the same lines OUTCOME The final guideline should be basic pdf file that should be enough to make anyone understand what the brand values are and how the designs are to be made.
36
37
38
39
BRAND GUIDELINES Since the logo was designed keeping in mind the current state of competition and the requirement of the market, there was an imperative need for a set of rules to use the logo. The guidelines also defined the minimum size of the logo, the iconic representation, the isolation zone, and the prohibitions. But these weren’t just limited to the usage of the logo but also how other brand assets would be created. I put immense research and thought before defining the font and the color palette for the brand. We fixated on Neue Haas Grotesk by Swiss typeface designers Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann. For the palette, I simply defined a shade of gray and a shade of white along with the logo blue as the primary colors and then had a wide array of colors based on material UI that would be used for any assets later on. We planned to color-code each category of devices differently.
For instance: the Electric Vehicle segment would be coded green. And that specific shade of green would run common throughout all the brand assets related to all the Electric Vehicle devices, be it the packaging, the datasheet, or the social media posts.
Alongside this, I also created a seamless pattern for the brand. This was a square block that could be repeated as wide as we required by multiplying its locations. This pattern can be put anywhere over the background as a supporting graphic element on low opacity and multiply transparency.
40
41
CORPORATE IDENTITY The visiting card is an extemely crucial part of an identity, the reason being that thats the first thing that your new prospective client will see. There was a requirement from the offcie for different cards for the board and the sales team, on which we had a comprehensive discussion wherein we concluded that the cards should be unified for all. Because sales employees a the ones who actually approach the customers and not the board.
As far as the letterheads were concerned, we were convinced that the layout was the key. Something sligly unique than usual, separating the page in thirds, this letterhead is easiter to work upon too. It’s more legible since the vital information is
clearly separated from the body.
For the employees to use, I created a word template restricting the usage of the left column for body text. This was challenging since I hadnt worked upon MS theme files before. The envelopes are as basic and minimal as they can get, a solid primary with the logo with the information on the back.
42
43
MICROSOFT TEMPLATES When the templates are created, using MS theme the colors were set, the text styles were set, and the layout was done. The smart objects automatically took up the parent settings. When a chart, a table, or any smart art was inserted, it was already on the brand theme, palette, and typography. We used an alternative font, Arial for regular internal usage since it was more economical since Neue Haas Grotesk was purchased for 5 Devices (Type Foundry Limit)
For MS Word, the Text styles and the Palette were the primary focus. Once the pallete was added properly, it perfectly synced with the text styles automatically. And the smart arts also synced with the palette using default contrast. The background was put as a non-washed out watermark, whenever the files had to be printed, the watermark was simply removed.
For Powerpoint too, the Text styles and the Palette were the primary focus. Once the pallete was added properly, it perfectly synced with the text styles automatically. And the smart arts also synced with the palette using default contrast. Here’ additionally, I had to create slide layouts for each slide through the slide master. Deciding what part of the template would be editable by the employees and what would be locked was extremely crucial.
For excel on the other had, the same theme from word was automatically applied, just cell text styles were added.
44
45
COMPANY PROFILE Once the templates were ready, the company profile wasn’t much of a task. The colors were set, the text styles were set, and the layout was done. The smart objects automatically took up the parent settings.
The editable version was later shared
with the entire organization since the purpose of the asset is to be shared with prospective clients as a company introduction. Each client has to be given certain additional information that is relatable for them individually. Therefore all employees had access to work on it. When a chart, a table, or any smart art was inserted, it was already on the brand theme, palette, and typography. We used an alternative font, Arial for regular internal usage since it was more economical since Neue Haas Grotesk was purchased for 5 Devices (Type Foundry Limit)
46
47
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH & IN-OFFICE SIGNAGES To reward the employees, every month the best employee gets a certificate and some company merchandise. The certificates were also designed once, the company’s usual print vendor supplies them every month.
Moreover all around the office the signages were also printed on the new brand theme. Each department got their own entry title over them since the desks are all merged for proper collabouration. But the signages separated them.
48
49
PRODUCT BROCHURE & DATA SHEETS The product brochure was simply a job of proper layouting on the content that they gave. Using the selected palette, there was an introductory section followed by each device page with all the technical specifications related to it.
Sometimes a particular customer is only associated with one section of our products, for instance: aa company is only into electric vehicles, so sending them the whole product brochure would not make sense and might also frustrate the client. Therefore, we have separate data sheets of all the devices so that we can send individual device info to them whenever required too. We color coded each section and gave the data sheet that primary color with a neutral base. That helped us segregate them and use them later.
50
51
52
53
EMAILER DESIGN
The company regularly sends emails to its current and prospective clients, these emailers run repeatedly throughout the week and have the info related to each segment of the clientele. The company doesnt use any particular emailer sofware because doing it manually sets a wider drawer for creativity and is more boundless.
The next step is to import the design into Photoshop and create slices. After that each slice is assigned a link and then all the slices are exported for web.
The first step is to get the content from the concerned parties and make the emailer in Adobe Illustrator in segments so that it scrolls properly.
This folder is later hosted on the iTriangle server. This ensures that whenever the emailer is updated, even the older drafts with anyone in the world also get updated subsequently.

REDESIGNING ITRIANGLE’S BLE CONFIG APP
55
CONFIG 360 TO BLUESYNC Aquila BlueSync is a proprietary iTriangle’s mobile application that will help the users to know the configurations that are flashed during the dispatch of the device. There are multiple use cases of this mobile application. It can be used to Configure the device, can be used to check what data is being transmitted from the device. This app is being used by over 100 System Integrators. The Field Application Engineers use it to push commands in
case of wrong configuration flashed while dispatching the device to the customers or in case a new configuration is required to be shipped to a customer. Aquila BlueSync can be connected to all the iTriangle Manufactured devices that has Low Energy BLE component installed. Since the connection of the device with the application happens over BLE, the engineers don’t have to carry any wires/ connectors to connect the device and get details from the device.
56
57
CONFIG 360
The initial version of the BlueSync app was designed and developed as a pilot to check the need, and verify the use case. The initial version had very few features that was only essential and served the purpose of the app. The UX of the app was bad, but it was useable. The user was only able to read the data from the device and was not able to configure the device. This along with many other issues were fixed in the redesign
58
WHY IS THE SCREEN SIDE OF THE REDESIGNED 360X640 PX At zeliot, we have moved away from the traditional approach. Developers and other hoomans here are always encouraged to try out new technologies. Initially, when the company started, we were using native Android and Native iOS (Swift UI) to develop mobile apps. The main challenge here was as were using native technology, we were forced to use the native components provided by Android/iOS and hence, we had to design both the applications twice, taking the components provided to us and also since the components are different, parts of the applications used to look different. But then, later on, people started to adapt to Hybrid Technology. Some of them are React Native, Ionic, Flutter, etc. Since we use React as our main tech for Front-end development, we started using React Native to test how can we reduce the inconsistency in the design. And, as more and more people started using React Native for mobile application
development, the community grew stronger and there were multiple forums to address the concerns of the users. Now, since almost all of our mobile apps are built using React Native technology, we have made components that can be reused and our apps look uniform on all the platforms. We also use grids while designing the apps to ensure the proper scalability of the apps. This is essential because most of the newer android phones in the market have very weird dimensions, considering folding phones and flip phones are available too. The 8 Point Grid system is what helps in proper scalability. We’ve calculated the Gutter Widths, Margins, Column Widths, and Max width to ensure the same. BlueSync was designed in the smallest android screen size (360 X 640) so that the components can be scaled up easily. Scaling up to a bigger size is easier than scaling down to a smaller size.
59
WHY IS THE APP ONLY ON DARK MODE? The Bluesync app is predominantly going to be used by FAE’s i.e. Field Application Engineers. The application configures many devices rapidly. The location of this all is majorly going to be godowns and warehouses. The idea behind dark mode is that it reduces the light emitted by device screens while maintaining the minimum color contrast ratios required for readability. Moreover, based on the research that we had done most of the users that are using BlueSync are in the age group of 25-35. As we age, the pupil decreases in size. Too small pupil sizes mean that too little light enters the eye, which
impairs our ability to read or detect bright text. As we get older, we become more susceptible to glare, and glare is particularly likely under bright light. Additionally, Dark mode apps can prolong the battery life of your smartphone. Google has confirmed that using dark mode on OLED screens has been a huge help for battery life. For example, at 50% brightness, the Dark Mode interface in the YouTube app saves about 15% screen energy compared to a flat white background. Therefore using this app it reduces carbon footprints too and the charge lasts longer.
60
61
INSPIRATION BOARD
We took inspiration from the current dark mode trends werein one primary color is hyped to the extent where it grabs all the attention. The balance and the other factors were taken care on the bases of these same inspirations.
62
63
USER FLOW
The user flow was mostly based on the older app since our motive as the major task was just redesigning the look and the feel of the app. But slight updates were made that made it more accessible to the user.
