HOSPITALITY & WELLNESS
HISTORY In 1959, Richard Selje and Robert Bond cofounded Selje & Bond Design Consultants. The firm was created to provide industrial product design including architectural products, commercial furniture design, graphic design, brand development and commercial interior design. The firm later grew into Stewart, Romberger & Associates (SRA), South Pasadena.
Simultaneously, Robert W. Kite, AIA, and William Overpeck, formed Kite and Overpeck Architects, Beverly Hills. The firm became known for such iconic buildings as the original design for the Beverly Hillcrest Hotel, completed in 1965; Wallachs Music City, Hollywood; and 9000 Sunset Building, West Hollywood.
Inspired to follow in his father’s footsteps, Robert’s son, Brian A. Kite, formed the successor firm to Kite and Overpeck Architects known as Kite and Associates, Santa Monica where he continued with significant hospitality commissions including the renovation of the Bay View Holiday Inn, Santa Monica; guest room tower renovation for the Santa Monica Miramar Hotel; and the original Nikko Hotel, Beverly Hills, now the SLS Hotel.
In 2012, SRA and Kite & Associates merged to become Stewart, Romberger & Kite Architects Inc., Los Angeles. With a combined staff of more than thirty professionals, SRK’s integrated practice group has garnered some of the most interesting and challenging hospitality projects in Southern California and beyond.
Projects include the renovation of the Los Angeles Athletic Club; the Red Crescent Hotel, Riyadh; Najran Towne Center, Najran; and the comprehensive renovation and reconstruction of the San Pedro Elks Lodge that was recently destroyed by fire.

Hospitality & Wellness The iconic Elks Lodge San Pedro originally constructed in 1965 was tragically destroyed by fire in early 2014. SRK was retained to redesign and reconstruct this facility so that it can be put back into service to the community.
Located atop San Pedro on Cumbre Drive, SRK’s comprehensive new plan is state-of-the art in every aspect while maintaining the lodge’s historically recognized facade. The Club will contain significant member banquet rooms, a service bar and dance floor, as well as a new private member lounge and bar.

HOTEL BEL-AIR SPA & VILLAS* Bel-Air, CA The Hotel Bel-Air’s well established and recognized reputation for excellence and for unequalled luxury demands a spa facility that will solidly enhance the Hotel’s position within the luxury spa market. The Hotel Bel-Air Spa building is designed to reflect the existing architectural character and building style of the Hotel Bel-Air’s 1930 historical Chalon’s Court Area.
Hospitality & Wellness The building style is a romantic expression of the inherited mission style that has evolved, been refined and congealed into Spanish vernacular vocabulary design style so prevalent of California. While remaining true to the early period of colonial Southern California buildings, aesthetically the building design provides historic clues of a more refined Mediterranean origin intended to blend harmoniously with the design of the existing hotel.
Hospitality & Wellness The LA Athletic Club 5th and 6th Floor Renovation Project constitutes a comprehensive modernization of levels five and six to create new, enhanced spa facilities for its members and staff to serve the functions of the club on those levels.
As envisioned, the project consists of the selective demolition and redeployment of consolidated men’s and women’s locker and shower facilities on the 5th floor as well as the selected demolition and deployment of new spa treatment facilities, hair salon, bar, dining, exercise, and pool related enhancements on the 6th floor.

RED CRESCENT LUXURY HOTEL DESIGN Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Hospitality & Wellness The unique 48– story five-star hotel contains 368 keys, including five Presidential Suites and two Royal Suites. Program elements include a dynamic lobby lounge, serene Japanese gardens with dancing waters, a grand ballroom, board rooms, a prayer hall, fitness and treatment centers, swimming pools and media room. The design concept expands the notion of an oasis as a respite along historic trade routes in the middle of the desert with fabulous dining, recreation, luxurious accommodations and extraordinary service gathered in on premier location surrounded by rippling waters and palm trees. Our building’s facades are designed to represent the reflection of palm trees over rippling water in the oasis.
Hospitality & Wellness Park Fifth, a proposed mixed-use development, was conceptualized to pursue the very intense, high density, housing boom in the Downtown Los Angeles area. The project consisted of a 38story luxury hotel tower with over six stories of underground parking and a direct access point to the existing Pershing Square “Red Line Metro Station. The project entailed 20,000 square feet of retail, full complement of hotel and residential amenities and approximately 1,2000 parking spaces for a grand total of 1,200,00 square feet.
PARK FIFTH HOTEL* Downtown Los Angeles, CA
Hospitality & Wellness The Najran Towne Centre includes a central mixed-use building, full service hotel, mid service hotel and a central park, all connected by a pedestrian walk. To the West of the central mixed-use building rises the full service hotel, which includes a restaurant and bar, and is topped with a pool and spa, and the mid-service hotel. A raised cornice element gives character to these building and folds along the façade to connect with the canopy along the curved pedestrian walk. This gesture frames the entrance to the full service hotel’s restaurant and lounge from the central park.
